Did Chris Paul Get Covid

Chris Paul Out Indefinitely Because Of Coronavirus Protocols

Matt Barnes spoke to Chris Paul this morning after his COVID-19 news | The Jump

Paul, the Phoenix Suns guard, could miss at least a part of the Western Conference finals.

After leading the Phoenix Suns into the Western Conference finals, Chris Paul is in danger of missing at least part of the series after entering the N.B.A.s coronavirus health and safety protocols.

How soon Paul can return to the Suns was not immediately known. The Suns announced Wednesday that Paul was currently out because of the protocols and that they would next provide an update about his status on Saturday.

Among the factors that will determine how long Paul, 36, will be away from the Suns are his vaccination status and whether he tested positive for the coronavirus. Players who test positive are typically placed in isolation for 10 days, but isolation time, depending on the circumstances, can be reduced if a player is vaccinated.

The team did not say why Paul was in the protocol. It could mean that he tested positive, but it also could just indicate that he was in close contact with someone who did. The N.B.A. announced Wednesday afternoon that one player tested positive for the virus within the past week but, as per usual, did not name the player. Its not clear whether Paul has been vaccinated.

Any player who tests positive must isolate away from his team until he either returns two consecutive negative PCR tests taken 24 hours apart or satisfies other criteria pursuant to our COVID protocols, according to an N.B.A. spokesperson.

How Long Will Chris Paul Be Out

Paul missed Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference finals, but according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin, the Suns are optimistic that Paul;could return for Game 3 on Thursday.

And on Wednesday, June 23, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported that Paul is planning to return to action for Game 3 “barring an unforeseen setback.”

The All-Star guard’s;original COVID-related absence was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic on June 16.;Charania reported then that Paul was out “for an indefinite period of time.”

Pauls status for the start of the Western Conference finals is currently up in the air, sources say.Noteworthy: Depending on the medical circumstance, an isolation period could be shorter for a vaccinated individual.

In addition to the positive test, Paul caught an unfortunate break when the Clippers erased a 25-point deficit against the Jazz and dispatched Utah in six games Friday. Had the Jazz won, the Western Conference finals would have started Tuesday. Instead, they started Sunday.

After Phoenix’s Game 1, Suns coach Monty Williams called Paul “day-to-day”, before he was later declared out for Game 2 of the series.

As such, his quarantine time may be shorter than that of an unvaccinated player, which is 10 to 14 days.

It is not known whether Paul has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Players who are fully vaccinated — meaning at least two weeks past their last dose — are able to;return from protocols earlier;if they do not show symptoms.

Paul and the Phoenix Suns swept the Denver Nuggets in their second-round playoff series and are awaiting the winner of the Utah Jazz-Los Angeles Clippers series. The Jazz and Clippers are tied at two games apiece going into tonight’s Game 5, allowing more time for Paul to potentially be cleared before the Western Conference Finals begin.

Pauls only trip to the conference finals was with the Houston Rockets in 2018 when they lost to the eventual champion;Golden State Warriors.

Chris Paul Breaks Silence On Testing Positive For Covid

After finally being cleared to play for Game 3 of the WCF, Chris Paul finally spoke up about recently testing positive of COVID-19. The Phoenix Suns star had to miss the first two games of the series after it was confirmed that the 36-year-old did test positive shortly after they wrapped up their second-round series against the Utah Jazz.

Following a tough 106-92 road loss against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 3, Paul, at last, broke his silence about all the drama surrounding him and his health over the past couple of days.

Sh-t happens. And it did. Im here now. Its cool, Paul said .

“Shit happens. And it did. I’m here now. It’s cool,” said Chris Paul on having Covid.

According to multiple reports, Paul was fortunately vaccinated which resulted in a symptom-free experience of the deadly virus. He did have to test negative of COVID-19 twice, 24 hours apart, before being cleared from the leagues strict health and safety protocols.

Im just happy to be out here playing. There is a lot of people in the world that have dealt with it, Paul added.

Paul had a tough game in his first game back, scoring just 15 points on 5-19 shooting. He did dish out 12 assists to help facilitate for the Suns but the entire team just couldnt get it going on Thursday night.

Chris Paul Reportedly Received Covid

#253 COVID

Chris Paul is notorious for having bad things happen to him at the worst times, like during the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately, he was not able to escape that fate against this year.

Paul was placed in the NBAs COVID-19 health and safety protocol, we learned on Wednesday. This comes as his Phoenix Suns have reached the Western Conference finals and await the winner of the Clippers-Jazz series.

Paul is said to be out indefinitely. If he is vaccinated, he will miss less time than if he were unvaccinated. So a natural question many have wondered is whether Paul got the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here is what is known so far via a prominent reporter.

98.7 FM Arizona Sports radio host John Gambadoro reported on Wednesday that he believes Paul was vaccinated along with several other Suns in February.

My understanding is Chris Paul was vaccinated along with several other players back in February at the Fairgrounds.

Paul’s Status Is Up In The Air After He Entered The Nba’s Health & Safety Protocols

Appearing in;the competitive Western Conference playoffs for the 13th time in his 16-year career, Chris Paul is just four wins away from advancing to the NBA Finals for the first time after leading the Phoenix Suns to series wins in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

With LeBron James and the Lakers already out thanks to Paul and the Suns handiwork in the first round of the postseason and the Clippers now playing without All-Star Kawhi Leonard due to a knee injury that could sideline him for the rest of the postseason, Phoenix has an excellent shot at making it to the finals and maybe even winning the whole damn thing.

At least thats how it appeared until word came down early on Wednesday that Paul has entered the NBAs health and safety protocols and is sidelined for an indefinite period of time due to COVID-19 safety measures.

Its a devastating blow for Paul , who had a great shot at making the finals in 2018 when his Rockets held a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals over the Golden State Warriors but couldnt help Houston close it out in Games 6 and 7 because of a strained hamstring.

Averaging 15.7 points, 8.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game and shooting the ball very efficiently while keeping his turnover to a minimum through 10 playoff games, Paul had a season-high 37 points in Sundays series-clinching 125-118 win over the Denver Nuggets.

What Happened To Phoenix Suns Star Chris Paul

Paul, 36, has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time, the Athletic reported on Wednesday.;

The protocols are the league’s playbook for handling all matters related to the coronavirus this season, ESPN reported.;

While the league has relaxed some of those regulations in response to players and coaches getting the Covid-19 vaccine, anyone with symptoms may be required to quarantine or isolate.;

Chris Paul Sidelined After Testing Positive For Covid

9:50 AM PT More details are coming in about Pauls status with Arizona Sports reporter John Gambadoro claiming the guard did, in fact, test positive for COVID-19.

What makes the situation a true case of bad luck Paul WAS vaccinated, according to ESPNs Jalen Rose which makes it rare, but not impossible, to come down with the virus.

The fact Paul is vaccinated is good news for getting back on the court he could return sooner than the 10-14 day window once he starts testing negative.

Potentially devastating news for the Phoenix Suns superstar point guard Chris Paul has been sidelined for an indefinite period of time as part of the NBAs COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

In other words, CP3s status for the start of the Western Conference Finals is reportedly up in the air depending on when the Clippers/Jazz series ends, according to Shams Charania.

Paul has been the backbone for the red-hot Suns averaging 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists through 10 games this postseason.

Phoenix has been on a tear in the playoffs eliminating LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round and sweeping the Denver Nuggets in the semifinals.

The Jazz vs. Clippers series is currently tied at 2 games apiece and if either team wins in 6, it sounds like Paul will not be ready to go.

The report adds if the series goes 7 games, the WCF will start after Sunday.

Phoenix Suns Guard Chris Paul Has Entered The League’s Health And Safety Protocols And His Status Will Be Updated On Saturday The Team Said Wednesday

Chris Paul out indefinitely after entering NBAâs COVID protocols | New York Post

Chris Paul , The Canadian Press

Phoenix Suns;point guard Chris Paul has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and is out indefinitely, jeopardizing the star’s availability for the Western Conference finals.

The NBA’s rules for coronavirus-related isolation periods have evolved throughout the season in correlation with increasing vaccine numbers. If Paul is already vaccinated against COVID-19, he could be facing a shorter absence from the Suns.

Suns coach Monty Williams wouldn’t say whether he expected Paul to be available for Game 1 of the West finals.

“I’m not even going to go there until I have to, so there’s no reason for me to be pessimistic at all,” Williams said. “We just have to wait and see what’s going to happen.”

Phoenix swept Denver in the conference semifinals and will face either the;Utah Jazz or LA Clippers;in the Western Conference finals, which are scheduled to start next week. Against the Nuggets, 36-year-old Paul averaged 25.5 points on 61.8% shooting, 58.3% from 3, 100% from the free throw line, plus a 41-to-5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The protocols are the league’s playbook for handling all matters related to the coronavirus this season. There have been examples of players missing multiple weeks after positive COVID-19 tests; there have also been examples of players missing very short amounts of time for matters such as contact tracing investigations.

Information from ESPN’s Royce Young and The Associated Press was used in this report.

LOS ANGELES — Returning from a two-game absence because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols to a 106-92 loss in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul wasn’t in the mood to reflect on the latest setback he has had to navigate on the playoff stage.

“S— happens, and it did,” Paul said of his eight-day isolation period from the team because of testing positive for the coronavirus, even though he was already vaccinated. “I’m here now. So I’m cool.”

He was less content with his performance on Thursday, going 5-for-19 from the floor and finishing with 15 points, 12 assists and three steals as the LA Clippers drew within 2-1 in the series.

“I got to be better. I shot terrible,” Paul said. “I’ve got to pick up the pace. We’ll be ready Game 4.”

He was not ready to play at the start of the conference finals because of COVID-19, as he recalled the moment he received the bad news from Suns senior director of health and performance Brady Howe.

The Chris Paul Coronavirus Story Broke On Twitter

The news broke Wednesday on Twitter, of course. Its not just a social media platform. Its;the place to turn when you want to get something out there first and fast. Theres a reason Donald Trump used it so often, back when he was allowed to.

In this case it was Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, tweeting at 5:38 a.m. Arizona time;that, Phoenix Suns All-NBA guard Chris Paul has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols and is sidelined for an indefinite period of time, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”

Boom. After leading the Suns into the Western Conference Finals and playing as well than anyone while doing so, this was a nightmare.

The partys over, Cinderella. It was fun while it lasted.

Well, maybe.;The story hasnt ended. But that’s kind of how it felt. It was;surreal that early in the morning, and a scroll down the timeline still crowded with mentions of Pauls selection to the All-NBA second team on Tuesday. Thats cruel.

Paul has a history of playoff disappointment. But this? No way.

According to ESPN.coms Dave McMenamin and Adrian Wojnarowski, there is optimism within the Phoenix Suns organization that Paul could return for Game 3.

The Suns were without Paul for Tuesdays Game 2 battle against the Clippers, which Deandre Ayton won on a dramatic, buzzer-beating alley-oop to give Phoenix a 104-103 win. However, theres a possibility CP3 could be back in action when the team heads to Los Angeles.

Phoenix won Game 1 without Paul, too, thanks to strong efforts from Devin Booker and Ayton. Booker recorded a 40-point triple double in the 120-114 victory. Ayton chipped in 20 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and playing strong defense.

Chris Paul Out Indefinitely Enters Covid Health Safety Protocols

The Western Conference Finals could start as soon as Sunday, and the Phoenix Suns could be without Chris Paul for the start of that series now.

Paul is out indefinitely as he has entered the NBAs COVID/coronavirus health and safety protocols, a story broken by Shams Charania of The Athletic, and since confirmed by the Suns themselves. Phoenix said CP3 is currently out and would update his status Saturday.

Here are the big questions and what we know.

Did Paul test positive for COVID, or was he just exposed to someone who tested positive? The well-connected John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Sports Talk Radio in Phoenix says he did have a positive test. The Suns are not allowed to answer that question because of player privacy/HIPPA.

Did Paul get vaccinated? He has not answered that question, saying it is a private matter, but Gambadoro reports he heard he did. The league is allowing vaccinated players to return more quickly . Either way, Paul will need two negative tests 24 hours apart before he can return to being around the team and on the court.

If the Clippers or Jazz end their series in six games , the leagues plans call for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals to start at 3:30 Eastern on Sunday. If the Jazz and Clippers go to Game 7, that will be played Sunday and there is no announced date yet for the start of the Conference Finals.
