Did Chris Paul Test Positive For Covid

The Coronavirus Pandemic: Key Things To Know

âAn Unbelievable Blowâ? – Rich Eisen on Chris Paulâs Positive COVID-19 Test | 6/16/21

The global surge. The virus is spreading faster than ever at the start of 2022, but the last days of 2021 brought the encouraging news that the Omicron variant produces less severe illness than earlier waves. As such, governments are focusing more on expanding vaccination than limiting the spread.

Staying safe.Worried about spreading Covid? Keep yourself and others safe by following some basic guidance on when to test and how to use at-home virus tests . Here is what to do if you test positive for the coronavirus.

Pauls only previous appearance in the N.B.A.s final four came with the Houston Rockets in 2018 and was marred by a series-turning injury. A hamstring issue sidelined him for the final two games against Golden State after Houston had taken a 3-2 series lead. Golden State capitalized on Pauls absence to win those two games without Paul and went on to win its third championship in four years.

A shoulder injury plagued Paul through the first several games of the Suns first-round series against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. But Paul recovered to help the Suns capitalize on Daviss limited availability and eliminate the Lakers in six games, the earliest playoff exit in LeBron Jamess career.

When asked about the shoulder after the Suns sweep of the Nuggets, Paul said, Im good now.

How Long Will Chris Paul Be Out

Paul missed Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference finals, but according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin, the Suns are optimistic that Paul could return for Game 3 on Thursday.

And on Wednesday, June 23, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported that Paul is planning to return to action for Game 3 “barring an unforeseen setback.”

The All-Star guard’s original COVID-related absence was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic on June 16. Charania reported then that Paul was out “for an indefinite period of time.”

Pauls status for the start of the Western Conference finals is currently up in the air, sources say.Noteworthy: Depending on the medical circumstance, an isolation period could be shorter for a vaccinated individual.

In addition to the positive test, Paul caught an unfortunate break when the Clippers erased a 25-point deficit against the Jazz and dispatched Utah in six games Friday. Had the Jazz won, the Western Conference finals would have started Tuesday. Instead, they started Sunday.

After Phoenix’s Game 1, Suns coach Monty Williams called Paul “day-to-day”, before he was later declared out for Game 2 of the series.

As such, his quarantine time may be shorter than that of an unvaccinated player, which is 10 to 14 days.

Report: Suns Star Chris Paul Tests Positive For Covid

It was reported Wednesday that Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul was placed in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. At the time, it was unknown whether or not he tested positive for the coronavirus.

Later in the day, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reported that Paul did test positive for COVID-19. The 36-year-old received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in February, per Gambadoro.

Paul will be sidelined indefinitely, and his status for the Western Conference Finals is unclear. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the isolation period for a vaccinated individual could be shorter than an unvaccinated individual.

The Suns await the winner of the Los Angeles Clippers-Utah Jazz series, which is currently tied 2-2. If Paul is unable to compete in the Western Conference Finals, it’ll be a huge blow for the Suns, who are back in the conference finals for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign.

Paul is averaging 15.7 points, 8.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game this postseason. His best performance of the playoffs came in Game 4 against the Nuggets when he put up 37 points, three rebounds and seven assists.

The Chris Paul Coronavirus Story Broke On Twitter

The news broke Wednesday on Twitter, of course. Its not just a social media platform. Its the place to turn when you want to get something out there first and fast. Theres a reason Donald Trump used it so often, back when he was allowed to.

In this case it was Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, tweeting at 5:38 a.m. Arizona time that, Phoenix Suns All-NBA guard Chris Paul has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols and is sidelined for an indefinite period of time, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”

Boom. After leading the Suns into the Western Conference Finals and playing as well than anyone while doing so, this was a nightmare.

The partys over, Cinderella. It was fun while it lasted.

Well, maybe. The story hasnt ended. But that’s kind of how it felt. It was surreal that early in the morning, and a scroll down the timeline still crowded with mentions of Pauls selection to the All-NBA second team on Tuesday. Thats cruel.

Paul has a history of playoff disappointment. But this? No way.

Way.

With Paul Unavailable For The Phoenix Suns Devin Booker Will Need To Produce Even More Offensively

Devin Booker remains the most obvious candidate to ascend as the teams next closer, already on a historic pace right now averaging a team high 27.9 points per game this postseason. He too averages the second most touches amongst all Suns just behind Paul at 66 per game, clearly with his imprint already all over the teams offense.

Devin Booker drops an #NBAPlayoffs career-high 47 PTS , 8 3PM, helping the advance! #ThatsGame

PHX will take on DEN in the West Semis with Game 1 on Monday at 10pm/et on TNT.

It might look unfair asking Booker to contribute with even more scoring given his impressive contributions already, but his multiple 30+ point games this postseason make it easy to believe his best performances remain yet to be seen.

Chris Paul Breaks Silence On Testing Positive For Covid

After finally being cleared to play for Game 3 of the WCF, Chris Paul finally spoke up about recently testing positive of COVID-19. Phoenix Suns’ Chris Paul Out Indefinitely Placed In Nba Health And Safety Protocols

Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and is out indefinitely, jeopardizing the star’s availability for the Western Conference finals.

The NBA’s rules for coronavirus-related isolation periods have evolved throughout the season in correlation with increasing vaccine numbers. If Paul is already vaccinated against COVID-19, he could be facing a shorter absence from the Suns.

ESPN’s Matt Barnes, appearing on The Jump, said Paul told him Wednesday that he has been vaccinated.

Chris Paul Is Vaccinated According To Jalen Rose

Hereâs Everything Trump Did After Testing Positive For Covid

Chris Paul is out indefinitely after landing in NBA COVID protocols, as reported this morning by The Athletic. How much time he will miss is dependent on several factors, not the least of which is if Paul is vaccinated.

NBA players as a whole have kept very quiet on the status of their vaccinations. Paul is no different. However, Jalen Rose went on ESPN this morning to declare to the world that Paul is, in fact, vaccinated.

Jalen Rose said Paul IS vaccinated. So now we wait on details

    â Ben Golan

As you can see above, the clip is a reply to a tweet from Suns reporter Gerald Bourguet in which Paul said vaccines are a “personal choice.” According to Rose, Paul’s personal choice was to get the vaccine.

There will be a lot of assumptions made about all of this, but if Paul really is vaccinated, we can confidently say his timeline to return is much shorter than if he wasn’t. Which is obviously excellent news for the Suns and those rooting for Paul to finally get to the top of the mountain and earn that elusive ring at 36 years-old.

After leading the Phoenix Suns into the Western Conference finals, Chris Paul is in danger of missing at least part of the series after entering the N.B.A.s coronavirus health and safety protocols.

How soon Paul can return to the Suns was not immediately known. The Suns announced Wednesday that Paul was currently out because of the protocols and that they would next provide an update about his status on Saturday.

Among the factors that will determine how long Paul, 36, will be away from the Suns are his vaccination status and whether he tested positive for the coronavirus. Players who test positive are typically placed in isolation for 10 days, but isolation time, depending on the circumstances, can be reduced if a player is vaccinated.

The team did not say why Paul was in the protocol. It could mean that he tested positive, but it also could just indicate that he was in close contact with someone who did. The N.B.A. announced Wednesday afternoon that one player tested positive for the virus within the past week but, as per usual, did not name the player. Its not clear whether Paul has been vaccinated.

    Did Chris Paul Receive Covid

Chris Paul is notorious for having bad things happen to him at the worst times, like during the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately, he was not able to escape that fate against this year.

Paul was placed in the NBAs COVID-19 health and safety protocol, we learned on Wednesday. This comes as his Phoenix Suns have reached the Western Conference finals and await the winner of the Clippers-Jazz series.

Paul is said to be out indefinitely. If he is vaccinated, his time away from the team would be less than if he were unvaccinated. So a natural question many have wondered is whether Paul got the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here is what is known so far via a prominent reporter.

98.7 FM Arizona Sports radio host John Gambadoro reported on Wednesday that he believes Paul was vaccinated along with several other Suns in February.

My understanding is Chris Paul was vaccinated along with several other players back in February at the Fairgrounds.

    John Gambadoro

Gambadoro noted that the Suns had the highest level of participation for vaccination in the league.

The Phoenix Suns did have the highest level of participation of vaccinations in the league, which includes players, coaches, staff etc

Additionally, Gambadoro says Paul did test positive for COVID-19.

Pauls Absence Leaves The Phoenix Suns Also Needing Extra Help From Cameron Payne

Additionally, Cameron Payne must elevate his play as well. Often fielding the injured Pauls minutes mid-way through the first round when his health first became an issue, Payne averaged 15.8 points per game, nearly doubling his regular season production at 8.4 points per game. He proved himself capable before, but he needs to do so again.

As the more primary ball handler, it remains imperative that Payne keeps his poise under this larger spotlight. We know he lacks the ability to create for his team to the extent which Paul does, so expecting him to put up double-digit assists nearly every night feels like too much to ask. However, merely protecting the rock, stretching the floor, and feeding Booker or Deandre Ayton when necessary appears well within his wheelhouse.

Between Paynes efforts, and another boost from Booker, Pauls temporary absence may not hurt the Suns as excessively as one might have initially thought. Few practice resiliency better than the Suns, and this is just another opportunity for them to rekindle their fighting spirit.

    Nba Announces 1 Positive Covid

Fenway Bowl, Military Bowl are both canceled amid COVID

After Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul entered the NBAs health and safety protocols, the league announced Wednesday that one player out of 164 tested for COVID-19 since June 9 returned a positive result.

Anyone who has returned a confirmed positive test, or has been identified as having been in close contact to an infected person, is isolated or quarantined until they are cleared under the rules established by the NBA and the Players Association in accordance with CDC guidance, according to the leagues press release.

Paul has tested positive for COVID-19 even though he received a Pfizer vaccine in February, according to Arizona Sports John Gambadoro.

His coronavirus case is the first in the NBA in three weeks.

Its unknown if the point guard has symptoms.

The Athletics Shams Charania first reported Wednesday morning that Paul was entering the NBAs health and safety protocols. At this time, he is sidelined indefinitely and his status for the upcoming Western Conference Finals is unknown.

I mean, its like anything else when weve had guys in the past that had it or been in that situation where you have to go in the protocols, theres a natural concern for the person, Suns head coach Monty Williams said after practice Wednesday.

Paul averaged 16.4 points and 8.9 assists during the regular season.

    When Will Chris Paul Return

According to ESPN.coms Dave McMenamin and Adrian Wojnarowski, there is optimism within the Phoenix Suns organization that Paul could return for Game 3.

The Suns were without Paul for Tuesdays Game 2 battle against the Clippers, which Deandre Ayton won on a dramatic, buzzer-beating alley-oop to give Phoenix a 104-103 win. However, theres a possibility CP3 could be back in action when the team heads to Los Angeles.

Phoenix won Game 1 without Paul, too, thanks to strong efforts from Devin Booker and Ayton. Booker recorded a 40-point triple double in the 120-114 victory. Ayton chipped in 20 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and playing strong defense.

Cameron Payne has started in Pauls place, scoring 11 points and adding nine assists in Game 1. But his Game 2 performance was incredible, as Payne scored 29 points with nine dimes.

News broke after the second round that Paul would be sidelined indefinitely as he went through the NBAs health and safety protocols. It immediately put his status for the Western Conference finals in doubt, with fears that the future Hall of Famers misfortune in the playoffs returned.

Yahoo Sports Chris Haynes reported Sunday night that Paul is symptom-free and remains quarantined in Los Angeles, with the Suns hopeful he could return early in the series against the Los Angeles Clippers.
