Did Trump Call Covid A Hoax

Anthony Fauci Predicted The 2020 Pandemic

Trump: Coronavirus is Democrats’ ‘new hoax’

The video claims that nine days before Trumps inauguration, U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said there is no doubt that President Trump will be confronted with a surprise infectious disease.

This statement is true, but it does not prove that the pandemic was planned. Conspiracy theories linking Faucis comment with the COVID-19 pandemic circulated online in May and were debunked by the fact-checking website Snopes .

Fauci was speaking at a Georgetown University forum on pandemic preparedness in January 2017 when he said: There is no question that there will be a challenge to the coming administration in the arena of infectious diseasesthere will also be a surprise outbreak.

The speech is visible here and here.

Fauci did not specifically warn of a pandemic in 2020 but spoke generally about the dangers of infectious diseases. The Obama administration had experienced the 2009 swine flu pandemic , the 2015-16 Zika virus epidemic and the 2014-16 Ebola outbreak in West Africa .

The 2020 Election Was Rigged

The video concludes that electoral fraud took place to ensure Trump could not win the 2020 U.S. election.

The speaker claims that: Just when Trump surges in key states, the election is inexplicably halted. Reuters has debunked claims that states stopped counting ballots and found votes for President-elect Joe Biden here and here.

The clip also alleges that thousands of mail-in ballots appeared in the middle of the night all for Biden. Reuters has fact-checked multiple allegations of voter fraud since election day, visible www.reuters.com/fact-check .

Experts say election fraud is vanishingly rare in the United States, where nearly one in four voters cast a mail-in or absentee ballot in 2016 .

Other conspiracy theories surrounding the US election have been debunked by Reuters www.reuters.com/fact-check.

False Coronavirus Claims And Rumours About Trump

Anti-disinformation unit

President Trump’s treatment for Covid-19 has spawned baseless rumours and conspiracy theories – about body doubles, oxygen tanks and more.

Many appear to be politically motivated and conflicting information from the White House over the weekend hasn’t helped.

Officials gave varying answers on when the president had been given oxygen. Unanswered questions remain over when Mr Trump last tested negative for the virus.

This left the internet to fill in the gaps with unfounded speculation. Here are some of the most viral rumours – and what we know about them.

Deliberate Infection And ‘body Double’ Conspiracy Theories

Republican supporters – in some cases tweeting from verified accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers – have spread a baseless rumour that the president was somehow deliberately infected with Covid-19 at some point during last week’s debate.

This goes well against the tide of early evidence showing that several top officials who have been infected, all attended a White House event announcing Mr Trump’s supreme court nominee, held several days before the debate.

Meanwhile, the suggestion that Mr Trump tested positive earlier than was originally suggested has led to rumours that he’s more ill than doctors have let on – and even that his most recent public appearances were staged with a body double.

Tweets to this effect from accounts mostly supporting the Democratic Party accumulated thousands of retweets.

“Body double” conspiracy theories are fairly common – in 2016, similar allegations were hurled at the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. President Donald Trump on Friday night tried to cast the global outbreak of the coronavirus as a liberal conspiracy intended to undermine his first term, lumping it alongside impeachment and the Mueller investigation.

He blamed the press for acting hysterically about the virus, which has now spread to China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, Italy and the U.S, and he downplayed its dangers, saying against expert opinion it was on par with the flu.

The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. They’re politicizing it, he said. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa. No, they can’t. They can’t count their votes. One of my people came up to me and said, Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That did not work out too well. They could not do it. They tried the impeachment hoax.

Then Trump called the coronavirus their new hoax.

None of that came up on Friday night, as Trump trash-talked his Democratic opponents in 2020 and characterized the coronavirus as the latest issue touching on border security.

Top White House officials kept up the same mantra all day Friday.

Event 201 Predicted The Pandemic

To corroborate the claim that the 2020 pandemic was planned, the video lists Event 201 as supporting evidence.

Event 201 was a real exercise that simulated the outbreak of an imagined coronavirus transmitted from bats to pigs on Brazilian farms before humans spread it globally by air travel. The event was organised in October 2019 by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security alongside the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

According to the events website, the simulation intended to highlight important gaps in pandemic preparedness .

Conspiracy theories linking this event with the 2020 pandemic grew in April and were debunked by the fact-checking organisation Full Fact .

Event 201 highlighted the risks of a global outbreak but did not plan the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

These Bikers Aren’t Praying For President Trump

A video which claims to show bikers praying for President Donald Trump outside the Walter Reed Medical Center in suburban Washington isn’t from this weekend, and wasn’t even filmed in the United States.

The clip, shared more than 25,000 times on Twitter and viewed over 1.3 million times, was uploaded onto video-sharing platform TikTok on Friday.

However, detective work by fact-checking website Lead Stories, verified by the BBC, reveals that the video was actually shot in South Africa and shows bikers protesting against farm murders.

The original clip was uploaded to TikTok on 29 August, and comparison with Google Street View shows it was shot outside the Union Building in Pretoria.

Yes Trump Did Call Covid A Democratic Hoax Or At Least Heavily Implied It

From time to time, its very easy to feel like Winston Smith trying to restore everyones collective memory. Theirss a common pattern among infamous Trump statements: Once its ripped apart, he finds some way, any way, it could have actually been true.

You might remember his infamous very fine people quote after the United The Right Rally back in August 2017. Of course, three years after that rally and nobody has been able to show proof these very fine people we hear so much about that were just protesting the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee ever existed. But if you think by very fine people he meant the Nazis and White Nationalists he clearly condemned and not some other mystical group, youre insane.

We saw this with his condemning of white nationalism during the first debate with Biden. White nationalists like Richard Spencer, David Duke, and Andrew Anglin didnt feel condemned Anglin even took Trumps statement as a call to action for white nationalists.

Still, the people who want us to be nice to Trump are telling us that we should just give him the benefit of the doubt. Leading to the biggest lie about a lie of the Trump administration, that he never called COVID-19 a democrat hoax. The BBC even ran a story just yesterday as have Snopes, Politifacts, and even Associated Press.

Heres what he objectively said on 2/28/2020:

Still, some like to point towards this quote from the next day as evidence Trump didnt mean what he clearly meant:

President Trump Defended His Comments

Trump, Democrats Far Apart On Status Of Coronavirus Response

At a press conference the next day, President Trump defended his comments, stating, No, no, no. Hoax referring to the action that they take to try and pin this on somebody, because weve done such a good job. The hoax is on them, not Im not talking about whats happening here Im talking what theyre doing. Thats the hoax. Thats just a continuation of the hoax, whether its the impeachment hoax or the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. This is what Im talking about. Certainly not referring to this. How could anybody refer to this? This is very serious stuff. But the way they refer to it because these people have done such an incredible job, and I dont like it when they are criticizing these people. And thats the hoax. Thats what Im talking about.

Trump Isn’t Making Money From Covid Coins

Coins commemorating “Donald Trump defeating Covid” on sale from an online outlet called the White House Gift Shop have no connection with the US President.

Much-shared but false posts on social media suggest that President Trump is selling the $100 coins to make money on the back of his diagnosis.

In fact, the White House Gift Shop has nothing to do with the President nor the Trump family. The website came to our attention in May when it sold coins “commemorating” the Covid-19 outbreak, and a BBC Reality Check investigation found it was not an official product.

The store was set up in 1946 by President Harry S Truman in the basement of the White House, but it was subsequently transferred to a private company which now holds the “White House Gift Shop” trademark.

‘its A Hoax There’s No Pandemic’: Trump’s Base Stays Loyal As President Fights Covid

News that the president has contracted coronavirus prompted alarm and confusion among Trump supporters in Missouri

Sean Patterson is not worried that Donald Trump has been hospitalized with coronavirus because he believes what the president tells him.

Its a hoax. Theres no pandemic. As Trump said, how many millions die of flu? said the 56-year-old truck driver outside the early voting station in St Joseph, Missouri a stronghold for the president.

But then Patterson pauses and contemplates the possibility that Trump really does have Covid-19.

If hes sick, then they planted it when they tested him. Its what they did to me when I went to hospital for my heart beating too fast. Two weeks later I got a cold, he said. Its political. I dont trust the US government at all. Who are they to mandate personal safety? I listen to Trump.

At the end of a tumultuous week even by the standards of one of the most turbulent presidencies of modern times, the disturbing if not entirely unpredictable news that the president has contracted coronavirus prompted alarm, confusion and schadenfreude in the heart of Trumpland.

Trumps persistent interruptions and disruptions, including mocking Biden for wearing a mask in other situations, tested the faith of more than a few of his supporters. Now his contraction of coronavirus has raised further doubts after Trump repeatedly undermined medical advice as the Covid-19 death toll surged past 200,000.

‘secret’ Oxygen Tank Rumour

Another rumour being spread suggested that the president was wearing a secret oxygen tank when he was seen leaving the White House on Friday.

A number of accounts supporting the Democrats circled close-up images of Trump claiming they could see he was hooked up to some kind of device – and using it as evidence that the White House was downplaying how ill the President really is.

Like the baseless claim that Joe Biden was wearing an ear piece to help him during last week’s debate – – this particular rumour appears to have been started by people getting overly excited by folds and creases.

But even if he wasn’t toting a hidden tank, we do now know that the president was given supplemental oxygen at several points over the weekend.

Rumours that the President is pretending to be ill for votes continue to spread online, pushed by some high-profile opponents of Mr Trump.

And at the extreme fringes, some QAnon supporters have gathered outside the hospital. They are pushing the baseless conspiracy that Trump is “pretending” to have Covid-19 in a bid to trick the “deep state” and have powerful people arrested.

How can you spot disinformation on your social media feed when there are conflicting messages coming from the top and various political agendas online?

1) Think about bias. Why was a post shared? Remember, this is happening during a hotly contested election.

Fake News: Trump Didn’t Call Coronavirus A ‘hoax’ On February 28

Trump claims he always took coronavirus seriously, but the ...

That’s what Politico said.

Politico published an article claiming President Donald Trump called the novel coronavirus a hoax at his Feb. 28 campaign rally in South Carolina.

Trump rallies his base to treat coronavirus as a hoax,’ reads the headline.

Verdict: False

Trump referred to the alleged politicizing of the coronavirus by Democrats as their new hoax. He did not refer to the coronavirus itself as a hoax. Throughout the speech, Trump reiterates his administration is taking the threat of the coronavirus seriously.

Fact Check:

Politico appears to misconstrue the subject of the presidents statement, claiming that Trump tried to cast the global outbreak of the coronavirus as a liberal conspiracy intended to undermine his first term. But an examination of the video and transcript show Trump actually described Democratic complaints about his handling of the virus threat as their new hoax.

We have exposed the far lefts corruption and defeated their sinister schemes and lets see what happens in the coming months, Trump said during the rally. Lets watch. Lets just watch. Very dishonest people. Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that right? Coronavirus, theyre politicizing it.

The novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, has spread from China to 53 other countries, sickening 85,403 people and killing 2,924 others as of Saturday, according to the World Health Organization.

Trump Calls Coronavirus Democrats”new Hoax’

President Donald Trump lashed out on Friday at Democrats who have questioned his handling of the coronavirus threat, calling their criticism a new “hoax” intended to undermine his leadership.

At a political rally in South Carolina, Trump sought to steal some of the spotlight from his Democratic rivals who were campaigning across the state on the evening before its presidential primary.

Trump accused Democrats of “politicising” the coronavirus threat and boasted about preventive steps he has ordered in an attempt to keep the virus that originated in China from spreading across the United States.

Shortly before Trump began to speak, health officials confirmed a second case of coronavirus in the US in a person who didn’t travel internationally or have close contact with anyone who had the virus. The president did not mention that news.

“They have no clue. They don’t have a clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa,” Trump said, referring to problems that plagued the Democratic vote in the Iowa caucuses February 3.

“They tried the impeachment hoax. … This is their new hoax,” Trump said of Democratic denunciations of his administration’s coronavirus response.

Some Democrats have said Trump could have acted sooner to bolster the US response to the virus. Democratic and Republican lawmakers also have said his request for an additional $2.5 billion to defend against the virus isn’t enough. They’ve signaled they will provide substantially more funding.

Team Trump Cant Erase The Boss Coronavirus Hoax

The Trump campaign is attacking people for saying he called the coronavirus a hoax. He didnt, but he clearly did call Democrats warnings a hoax.

Illustration by Elizabeth Brockway/The Daily Beast

Donald Trumps 2020 campaign is desperate to stop people from reminding America that Trump called warnings about the threat of the coronavirus a hoax.

I found that out firsthand after an appearance Sunday morning on Ali Velshis MSNBC show, where I mentioned Trumps history of belittling the threat of the coronavirus. One of the examples I cited was Trumps at his Feb. 28 rally where he declared that the Democrats criticism of his handling of COVID-19 was their new hoax.

Later Sunday, to my surprise, the Trump War Room, a Twitter account that is managed by the Trump campaign and boasts over a half million followers, called me a liar for saying that. And not just me, but others in the media who had allegedly said that same, as you can see from the War Rooms , Rachel and continue to spread the lie that President Trump called coronavirus a hoax.

The Trump War Rooms tweet only included my comment about the new hoax, leaving out the context in that I had noted Trump had a history of belittling the threat posed by the virus, from that Feb. 28 rally up through, as I also mentioned, his March 24 appearance on Fox News where he invoked the deaths caused by auto accidents and the flu to again undermine the deadly nature of COVID-19.

President Trump Made The Comments At A Campaign Rally In South Carolina

Hear the presidents remark at 6:50.

On February 28, President Trump held a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina, during which time he made the :

Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. Theyre politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs, you say, Hows President Trump doing?, Oh, nothing, nothing. They have no clue, they dont have any clue. They cant even count their votes in Iowa, they cant even count. No, they cant. They cant count their votes. One of my people came up to me and said, Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didnt work out too well. They couldnt do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over, theyve been doing it since he got in. Its all turning, they lost. Its all turning, think of it, think of it. And this is their new hoax. But you know we did something thats been pretty amazing. We have 15 people in this massive country and because of the fact that we went early, we went early, we could have had a lot more than that.

President Trump compared the Democrats criticism of his response to the coronavirus pandemic to their attempt to impeach him, saying this is their new hoax.
