Do I Need To Quarantine On Returning To The Uk If Im Not Vaccinated

New COVID testing rules to travel to U.S.

At the moment, travellers who are not fully vaccinated need to take a pre-departure Covid test in the 48 hours before travelling to the UK PCR and lateral flow tests are both accepted. A passenger locator form is also required.

On arrival in the UK, youll need to complete ten full days of quarantine in a location of your choice, whether its your home, other private accommodation or hotel. The day you arrive is day 0, so your quarantine countdown starts from the day after you arrive. Youll also need to pre-book a Covid testing package before arriving in the UK a PCR Covid test is required on day 2 and day 8. The Test to Release scheme is not available to those who are not fully vaccinated.

The rules are changing on February 11. Unvaccinated travellers will no longer have to self-isolate if they arrive in the UK after 4am on that Friday. Before they travel to the UK, they will still need to take a Covid test in the 48 hours before departure and fill in the passenger locator form. And after they land, they must take a pre-booked PCR test by the end of day 2, where the day of arrival is day 0.

Proof Of Accommodation And Onward Travel

Immigration officials at the port of entry may ask to see proof of your departure plans from Mexico before allowing you entry to the country. They can also ask to see proof of your booked accommodation, as well as funds to cover your intended stay while in Mexico.

If you have been invited to stay in someones home, immigration officials may also ask for a letter of invitation from the person you are visiting. This should include as much information as possible, including the host and travellers full names and contact details, address while in Mexico and reason for visit.

Employment Voluntary Work Research And Eco Activities

Tourists are not allowed to undertake voluntary work, or activity, or any form of paid employment. If you wish to carry out this type of work, you must get the correct visa from the Mexican Embassy before you travel.

You may need a visa to undertake certain adventure or eco-tourism activities like caving, potholing or entomology, especially if they involve any scientific or technological research. The Mexican authorities may define scientific or technological research activities far more broadly than other countries. If youre in any doubt, check with the Mexican Embassy in London well in advance of your visit and ask for written confirmation if necessary.

It is no longer possible to switch immigration status in-country. You cant enter Mexico on a tourist visa and then change it for a work visa. You must apply at the Mexican Consulate of your normal place of residence in plenty of time before you are due to travel.
