Spirit Airlines CEO Ted Christie told CNBC that the carrier is urging all passengers and employees to get Covid shots and use facial coverings, despite the low-cost carrier having no plans to implement vaccine requirements.

Back in January, United CEO Scott Kirby said the carrier was considering a Covid vaccine mandate for the entire company’s workforce. The airline has so far not mandated the vaccine for all employees.

Two of the three Covid vaccines currently being offered in the U.S., two-shot regimens from Pfizer and Moderna, were cleared for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in late December. Those two companies have applied for full approval. Johnson & Johnson‘s one-shot Covid vaccine received emergency use authorization in February, but J& J has not sought full approval yet.

Delta Air Lines Updates Its Covid

    By Lauren Hirsch

Delta Air Lines has updated its policies for workers who get sick with the coronavirus, soon after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shortened its recommended isolation period for Americans infected with Covid-19.

Delta was one of the first companies to adapt to the updated guidance, which it had publicly called on the C.D.C. to do. The Biden administration and major companies have said shortening the isolation period will help keep society functioning, but unions have worried it could allow companies to pressure employees to come back to work.

The airlines new policy, dated Tuesday, provides five days of paid leave for workers who test positive for the coronavirus to isolate, according to an internal communication to company leaders obtained by The New York Times. And it encourages, but does not require, a Covid test to go back to work, going a step further than the C.D.C. guidance, which does not include a recommendation for additional testing. Deltas new protocols make no mention of whether returning employees should have improving symptoms, as suggested by the C.D.C.

A spokesman for the airline said Delta is strongly recommending our people get tested prior to returning to work, regardless of symptoms . He did not say whether the airline would request to see the results of any test. Delta requires all employees to wear masks in work areas, in airports and on flights.

Those Who Cant Meet The Requirements Wont Be Allowed To Board

The move follows American Airlines and United Airlines requirement that passengers certify they are symptom-free before traveling, Delta says its new health acknowledgement prompts during check-in act as another layer of protection for both its employees and customers during the pandemic.

Dominican Republic Requires Pcr Test For Travelers From 22 Countries For The Delta Variant

IN CASE OF FAILURE TO PRESENT THE VACCINATION CARD AT AIRPORTS IN THE COUNTRY

Variants of Covid-19 slow down the early recovery of tourism

Travelers coming from 22 countries considered to be at high risk of the delta variant entering the Dominican Republic through national airports will be required to present the vaccination card against the virus upon entry.

The card must be issued at least three weeks after the last dose has been applied. If they do not have the vaccination card, passengers must present the negative result of a PCR test no more than 72 hours before they arrive in the country.

All passengers and crew members arriving in the Dominican Republic from Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Kuwait, Monaco, United Kingdom must undergo the process.

In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Syria, South Africa, Sweden and Thailand, and Tunisia, countries where several infectious variants of Covid-19 have been detected, are included.

The measure of presenting a negative PCR test result does not apply to passengers under five years of age.

Persons arriving in the country from the United States and other destinations are only subjected to a random antigen test.

Although there are no direct flights from Brazil and the United Kingdom through Las Americas International Airport, many nationals come as tourists on charter flights and connecting flights from the United States and Europe.

      Which Type Of Covid

Our travel advice pages have all the latest entry requirements for all the destinations we fly to, including which types of Covid-19 tests will be accepted. For example, NHS test results should not be used for travel, and some countries we fly to don’t accept the results from self administered tests.

      Positive Test Or Covid

You should self-isolate and delay your travel if you develop symptoms or your pre-departure test result is positive until you have recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must refuse to board anyone who does not present a negative test result for COVID-19 or documentation of recovery.

If you know or suspect that you have COVID-19, you should self-isolate and NOT travel until you have met CDCs criteria for discontinuing isolation.

If you are not fully vaccinated and have had close contact with a person with COVID-19 , you should self-quarantine and NOT travel until you have met criteria for discontinuing quarantine. If you are fully vaccinated, or have documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days, you do not have to self-quarantine after exposure to a person with COVID-19 and can travel unless you have COVID-19 symptoms.

Delta Airlines Accept Which Covid Test

We are flying out of Detroit to Jamaica on Delta and would appreciate anyone who has flown on Delta and the Covid Tests they accept without any problems. Certainly don’t want to take the test that is mostly rejected by Delta. I can go to Walgreen to get the Rapid IDNow test or go to Urgent Care clinic that offers PCR test that can gets results same day or the next morning and they also offer Rapid Test 15-20 min to get results. I already found the CLIA number for both Walgreen and Urgent care clinic. It is nerve wracking trying to decide which to use since Walgreens is free for Rapid test and not sure about the urgent care since may have to pay the co-pay through insurance for urgent care visit.

      Five: Hawaii Airport Arrival Procedures

There are two options that can occur once you arrive at a Hawaii airport:

    • If your airline participates in the Pre-Clearpre-travel screening, you will skip the post-arrival screening in Hawaii.
    • If your airline does not participate in pre-travel screening, you will need to go through a screening process once you arrive into Hawaii.
    • When you check-in for your flight to Hawaii, ask the counter agents if the airline participates in the Pre-Clear program and if you can be screened before boarding. This will include scanning Safe Travels QR Code, and once completed, you will receive a wristband that will allow you to exit any Hawaii airport as per usual.

If your airline does not participate in pre-travel screening at the time of check-in, you will need to go through post-arrival screening once you reach your final Hawaii destination.

While your Safe Travels account contains all of the necessary information needed by the State of Hawaii, additional paperwork may need to be filled out upon arrival.

For non-vaccinated travelers, if you do not receive your negative test result prior to your arrival, you will need to complete the mandatory 10-day quarantine. This quarantine must be completed even if you receive your negative test result during your quarantine.

Important! You MUST have your Safe Travels QR Code ready to be scanned either before departure or upon arrival into Hawaii.

Delta Air Lines Study Shows Covid Testing Before Flights Helps Stop Spread

Airlines & AirportsDelta Air LinesDonald Wood September 08, 2021

A new study found the risk of exposure to COVID-19 while traveling drops to less than 0.1 percent when all travelers test negative 72 hours before their flight.

According to data from Delta Air Lines and the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, performing a single COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of departure could decrease the rate of people actively infected onboard to a level significantly lower than active community infection rates.

The study of nearly 10,000 air travelers examined customer data on Deltas COVID-tested flight corridors between New Yorks John F. Kennedy International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Italys Fiumicino International Airport.

Information provided by the Georgia Department of Health and the Mayo Clinic should infection rates on COVID-19-tested flights were 0.05 percent or 5 in 10,000 passengers, much lower than the 1.1 percent average community infection rate.

We are going to live with COVID-19 variants for some time, Delta Chief Health Officer Dr. Henry Ting said. This real-world data not simulation models is what governments around the world can use as a blueprint for requiring vaccinations and testing instead of quarantines to re-open borders for international travel.

Do You Need To Be Vaccinated To Fly On Delta

Bastian told CNBC on Tuesday that Delta does not plan to require proof of vaccination for travelers, especially because the coronavirus vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson have not been fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

      • Its very difficult for us to come in and mandate a vaccine that isnt even federally approved yet, the authorization hasnt been final yet, he told CNBC. So stay tuned.

Bastian said most Delta customers tend to be vaccinated anyway.

      • The vast majority of our customers are vaccinated, theyre in a clean environment, theyre fully masked, Bastian said. Our people, over 73% of our staff, are fully vaccinated and that number is growing by the day.
