Does Delta Require Covid Testing

Delta Air Lines Updates Its Covid

Delta Airlines will not require coronavirus vaccine

By Lauren Hirsch

Delta Air Lines has updated its policies for workers who get sick with the coronavirus, soon after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shortened its recommended isolation period for Americans infected with Covid-19.

Delta was one of the first companies to adapt to the updated guidance, which it had publicly called on the C.D.C. to do. The Biden administration and major companies have said shortening the isolation period will help keep society functioning, but unions have worried it could allow companies to pressure employees to come back to work.

The airlines new policy, dated Tuesday, provides five days of paid leave for workers who test positive for the coronavirus to isolate, according to an internal communication to company leaders obtained by The New York Times. And it encourages, but does not require, a Covid test to go back to work, going a step further than the C.D.C. guidance, which does not include a recommendation for additional testing. Deltas new protocols make no mention of whether returning employees should have improving symptoms, as suggested by the C.D.C.

A spokesman for the airline said Delta is strongly recommending our people get tested prior to returning to work, regardless of symptoms . He did not say whether the airline would request to see the results of any test. Delta requires all employees to wear masks in work areas, in airports and on flights.

Why Is Delta Airlines So Bad

Delta is the least-respected brand in the world of business, beating out the likes of cigarette maker Philip Morris, says a survey by the research firm CoreBrand. It allegedly killed a catIn early 2011, Delta allegedly killed a womans cat, then offered her the standard $50 lost luggage fee to make amends.

If you are fully vaccinated, or have documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days, you do not have to self-quarantine after exposure to a person with COVID-19 and can travel unless you have COVID-19 symptoms.

The Coronavirus Pandemic: Key Things To Know

Delta said that 97 percent of its work force is vaccinated. While other carriers, like United Airlines, have mandated vaccines for their work force, Delta has opted to charge unvaccinated workers an additional $200 a month to remain on the companys health plan.

Some scientists have been critical of the C.D.C.s decision to shorten the isolation period without a requirement for testing. The Association of Flight Attendants is asking airlines to require a negative test for employees at the end of a five-day isolation period. It is also asking that unvaccinated workers be required to abide by a 10-day isolation period and that employees be provided with high-quality masks for at least five days after returning to work.

Travelers coming from 22 countries considered to be at high risk of the delta variant entering the Dominican Republic through national airports will be required to present the vaccination card against the virus upon entry.

The card must be issued at least three weeks after the last dose has been applied. If they do not have the vaccination card, passengers must present the negative result of a PCR test no more than 72 hours before they arrive in the country.

All passengers and crew members arriving in the Dominican Republic from Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Kuwait, Monaco, United Kingdom must undergo the process.

In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Syria, South Africa, Sweden and Thailand, and Tunisia, countries where several infectious variants of Covid-19 have been detected, are included.

    Connecting Or Delayed Flights

If you booked an itinerary from a U.S. state or territory to another U.S. state or territory and the itinerary has you taking a connecting flight through a foreign country, CDC does not require that you be tested. An example of this situation is an itinerary booked between the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. mainland via Japan.

However, some U.S. state and local governments and foreign governments may have their own testing requirements for air passengers arriving in their jurisdictions that may differ from U.S. federal requirements. Always check and follow recommendations or requirements related to travel to your destination in addition to U.S. federal requirements.

Yes. Any flight entering the U.S. from a foreign country, even for a connection, will require testing before departure.

If your itinerary has you arriving to the US via one or more connecting flights, your test can be taken within 1 day before the departure of the first flight.

You also have the option of getting tested en route during one of your connections. However, you should consider where in the connecting airport testing is available and if you would be able to access it while in transit. If you choose this strategy and are unable to get a test en route, you will not be able to board your flight to the United States. You should also be aware that if you test positive en route, you will not be allowed to continue your travel and may need to stay at that location until you end isolation.
