How To Get Covid Vaccine Passport

How To Get Canada’s Vaccine Passport

Covid-19 vaccine passport: Why you might need one to travel in 2021

Since provinces and territories implemented the national standard at different times, you might already have it if you’ve saved it to your phone or printed it out. But if you haven’t done that yet, there are different ways you can get it.

On this federal government website, every province and territory is listed with a link that takes you to the provincial or territorial government site where you can get official documentation confirming that you’re fully vaccinated.

You can also use this tool, which lets you select your province or territory to find out if it’s available there and other information about the proof of vaccination.

For example, Ontarians can get their proof of vaccination QR code which has been in the national standard for a while now by going to the provincial government’s COVID-19 vaccination portal and inputting the numbers from the front and back of their green photo health card along with other personal information.

Keep A Shot Of Your Cdc Card In Your Photo Album

Use this: The camera in your phone, plus the Apple or Google Photos apps.

Pros: Photos are easy to take, and theyre convenient to access when needed.

Cons: Storing these images securely is easier on some phones than others.

Simple enough, right? Fire up your phone’s camera, make sure your vaccine card takes up as much space on your screen as possible without cutting anything off, and snap a photo.

Even if you wind up using other digital records, its always nice to have a backup. That said, it usually doesnt take long before images get buried in your phones camera roll, so take a moment to put those vaccine card shots in dedicated albums for super-fast access.

On iPhones: Launch the Photos app, find the picture of your vaccination card, hit the Share button in the bottom-left corner, select Add to Album, tap New Album and give it a name.

On most Android phones: Launch Google Photos, find the picture of your vaccine card, tap the three-dotted menu sign in the top-right corner, tap Add to album, tap New album and give it a name.

You could stop right there if convenience is your main concern, but remember: Those images contain your date of birth and the location of your vaccination site. A hacker might not be able to break into your accounts with just that information, but its just personal enough to make it easier for that person.

What Is The Covid

Or better yetwhat on Earth is a vaccine passport in general? It is what it sounds like. It’s a legal document that proves what vaccinations you have received and when. It’s basically proof of vaccination in digital format. A digital health pass, if you will.

And actually, storing this information in a designated format is not new. Think back to when you were a kid. Chances are, your doctor had a card that reflected your vaccine status for a number of illnesses like polio, for example. As an adult, if you’ve traveled anywhere exotic, you’ve probably been vaccinated for things like yellow fever. That would have been carefully noted in your vaccine records that form part of your broader health record. Don’t remember? Ask your doctor.

What If My State Doesn’t Have An App That Lets Me Store My Card

If your state doesn’t have an iPhone or Android app that lets you store a copy of your vaccination record, there are other ways to keep it on your phone. What qualifies as valid proof, however, can vary by state, city, county or even individual business.

Some places may trust a photo of your physical vaccination card: Concert producer AEG Presents accepts a “physical copy of a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, a digital copy of such card or such other proof as is permitted locally.” But you definitely want to research first if your city, county or state does the same.

Along with many public schools, hundreds of private colleges are also requiring students and employees to be vaccinated: Seattle University, which requires students to be vaccinated to attend in-person classes, offers an online form to upload photos of the front and back of your vaccination card.

When in doubt, look for information on a business’s website or call the local health department and ask for clarification. It’s bound to save you time and lessen the risk of being turned away at the door.

Coronavirus vaccine passports: Republican lawmakers push back on requiring proof of vaccine

Congratulations, youve been vaccinated against the coronavirus. Maybe youve even been boosted already. Now you have to prove it, and your smartphone can help.

Across the world, concerns about the spread of the omicron variant are leading more businesses, schools and travel destinations to require vaccination. Like it or not, theres a real chance that somewhere you want to go will ask to see proof of your shots.

Lets say you are planning to visit Hawaii youll need to be vaccinated or show a negative coronavirus test if you want to avoid quarantine. Youll need proof to work in the federal government, at tech firms such as , Facebook and Uber, and a growing list of other companies. In New York and San Francisco, youll need it to go inside a bar, hit the gym, or take in a show on Broadway. And starting on , residents of Washington D.C. must prove they have received at least one vaccine dose to dine indoors at local restaurants and bars.

Mandates have the ability to help people who are not vaccinated to become vaccinated, and that is a huge public health benefit, said D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser when announcing the requirement in December.

So, how do you do that without carrying your white card from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention everywhere you go?

If your child is 14 or older, for privacy reasons, they need to get their own proof of COVID-19 vaccinations. Read about getting proof for children who are 14 or older.

If youre authorised to act on behalf of someone else for Medicare purposes, you can get their proof of COVID-19 vaccinations for them.

Will A Picture Of My Vaccine Card Work

The simplest way to have a digital record of your vaccine status is a photograph of your vaccination record on your phone. It’s not 100% effective everywhere, but even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend keeping a picture of your card as a backup copy.

Taking a photo of your card — front and back — is the quickest and easiest way to store it on your phone.

You can make the photo a favorite to quickly locate it or store it in a notes app, a folder or somewhere easy to remember. Make sure you’re in a well-lit area and get close enough to the card that the dates and other details are legible. Put the card on a dark surface and try to eliminate shadows from your arms or the phone itself.

Here’s one way iPhone users can save their vaccination card as a new photo album: Open the Photos app, select the Albums tab and then tap the plus sign in the top left corner followed by New Album. Give the album a name and then tap Save. Next, select the photos of your card to add them to the album.

On an Android, it depends on which app you’re using, but the process should generally be the same. If you’re using the Google Photos app, open the app and then select the picture of your vaccination card. Tap the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner, followed by the Add to Album button. Select +New album and give it a name such as “Vaccination Card” and tap the checkmark button when you’re done.
