Mandatory Testing Or Proof Of Immunity From Covid
As of 23 December 2021, every person over the age of six is obliged to carry proof of their COVID19 status when entering Germany. Persons over the age of six must therefore have a negative test result or proof of recovery or vaccination when entering Germany. As a rule, COVID19 test results must not be more than 48 hours old at the time of the entry. However, if entering Germany with a carrier , PCR tests may be taken a maximum of 48 hours before the start of the journey . But antigen tests must not be taken more than 48 hours before the time of arrival in Germany even if travellers are being transported by a carrier.
Travellers who are only transferring at an airport in Germany are also required to present proof of their COVID19 status. This applies both to non-Schengen transit from or to third countries outside the EU and to transit from or to Schengen states.
The negative test result, proof of recovery or proof of vaccination must be shown to the carrier for examination prior to departure. Only in the case of cross-border rail travel or cross-border short sea transport may the relevant documentation be presented during transit. Proof must also be shown to the German border authorities upon entry if requested.
Cross-border commuters are only required a negative test or proof of immunity after a stay in a high risk area, in an area of variant of concern or when entering Germany by air travel. In these cases a new negative test only needs to be provided twice per week.

I Had A Mixed Vaccine Can I Get The Eu Digital Covid Certificate
Yes. An EU Digital COVID Certificates should be issued to any person who received a COVID-19 vaccination. Such a certificate should clearly indicate the name of the vaccine and the number of doses administered.
When it comes to waiving travel restrictions, Member States agreed that EU citizens who received mixed doses in a two-dose series of COVID-19 vaccination, in line with national vaccination strategies, are considered fully vaccinated.
About The Johnson & Johnson Vaccination Interruption
The FDA and CDC on Tuesday recommended that healthcare providers across the U.S. pause administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after six reported cases of a severe type of blood clot appeared in individuals who received the vaccine. As a result of this guidance, Cedars-Sinai has temporarily halted use of the J& J vaccine.
The FDA and CDC note that adverse events related to the J& J vaccine appear to be extremely rare: Just the six reported events out of more than 6.8 million doses administered in the U.S.As of today, these rare adverse events noted by the FDA and CDC have not been reported with the J& J or Pfizer vaccines at Cedars-Sinai.
Those who have received the J& J vaccine in the last three weeks should look for any symptoms of the specific blood clot reported by the FDA and CDC, including severe headaches, abdominal or leg pain, and shortness of breath. Those who develop these symptoms should contact their medical provider.
COVID-19 vaccine safety remains a top priority for Cedars-Sinai, and we take any reports of health concerns very seriously. We are continually monitoring the health of our patients and staff who receive COVID-19 vaccines though Cedars-Sinai and follow FDA and CDC guidance on vaccine administration. We continue to encourage our patients and staff who are eligible for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to get vaccinated.

Can Children Get The Covid
Currently children age 5 and up can be vaccinated with the Pfizer pediatric vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine for children 5-11 years of age has the same active ingredients as the adult vaccine but is a smaller dose . The dosing schedule is the same for children, teens, and adults: two doses are given 21 days apart.
Over 6.5 million children have tested positive for COVID-19 in the US since the start of the pandemic. Even though COVID-19 is often milder in children than adults, some children can get very sick. Tens of thousands of children have been hospitalized with COVID-19 and over 900 children have died since the start of the pandemic. Since May 2020, over 5,500 children had Multi-system Inflammatory Syndrome , a serious condition in young people. Children may also get lasting health problems from COVID-19.
Getting your child vaccinated lowers their risk of getting infected with the COVID-19 virus and helps to protect them from these serious illnesses.
Children who get infected can spread the virus to others even if they donât feel sick. Getting vaccinated helps to protect friends and families, as well as the larger community. This includes protecting people with weak immune systems and children under 5, who canât be vaccinated yet.
New Proposals On The Validity Of Eu Digital Covid Certificate And The Coordination On Safe Travel In The Eu
On 21 December, the European Commission adopted rules relating to the EU Digital COVID Certificate, establishing a binding acceptance period of 9 months of vaccination certificates, following a primary 2-dose vaccination series or 1-dose series for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, for the purposes of intra-EU travel. A clear and uniform acceptance period for vaccination certificates will guarantee that travel measures among the EU countries continue to be coordinated.
The validity period of 9 months takes into account the guidance of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, according to which booster doses are recommended at the latest six months after the completion of the first vaccination cycle. The Certificate will remain valid for a grace period of an additional three months beyond those six months to ensure that national vaccination campaigns can adjust and citizens will have access to booster doses.
These new rules will apply from 1 February 2022.
The Commission has earlier proposed to update the rules on coordination of safe and free movement in the EU. Updates pertaining to the EU Digital COVID certificate are:
The Commission also proposed an updated framework for travel from outside the EU, prioritising vaccinated travellers, with strong safeguards.
These updates are currently under discussion with Member States

Travel Bans From Countries Affected By Coronavirus Variants
A travel ban is in place for countries with widespread occurrence of SARS-CoV-2 virus variants of concern . Transport companies, e.g. air carriers and railway companies, may not transport any persons from these countries to Germany. There are only a few, strictly defined exceptions to this travel ban, namely for:
- German citizens and persons who are resident in Germany with a current right to reside in the country, as well as their spouses, partners and minor children
- persons catching a connecting flight who do not leave the transit zone of a passenger airport and
- few other special cases.
Persons qualifying for these exceptions must nevertheless complete a digital entry registration before entering the country, undergo mandatory testing or provide proof of immunity, and comply with the applicable quarantine regulations for travellers entering the country. Further information is provided below.
Watch Out For Local Regulations
Measures for fighting the spread of COVID-19 are subject to local regulation.
The international advice on reducing the spread of COVID-19 should be followed. This includes washing hands regularly and thoroughly with soap for 20-30 seconds, sneezing into the elbow or the quick disposal of handkerchieves or tissues, keeping a distance from other people and avoiding shaking hands. Further information and details can be found on the World Health Organizations Website.
Where possible, travel should be reduced and public transport avoided to further reduce the risk of infection.

Potential Use Of Certificates For Access To Facilities
EU law covers the use of the EU Digital COVID Certificate to facilitate safe free movement inside the EU.
Member States can also use the COVID-19 certificates for domestic purposes, such as access to events or venues, but this is not regulated at the EU level.
In case a Member State adopts a system of COVID-19 certificate for domestic purposes, it should ensure that the EU Digital COVID Certificate is also fully accepted. This is to make sure that travellers going to another Member State do not have to obtain an additional national certificate.
What Do I Need To Do/know About The Johnson & Johnsons Janssen Covid
The FDA and the CDC are confident that the vaccine is safe and effective at preventing COVID-19. At this time, the available data suggests that the chance of developing a rare blood disorder thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome is very low, and the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.
For women between the ages of 18 and 49, this adverse event is rare, occurring at a rate of about 7 per 1 million vaccinated women. For women 50 years and older and men of all ages, this adverse event is even more rare. Women younger than 50 should be aware that other COVID-19 vaccines are available where this risk has not been seen.
Patients who receive the Janssen vaccine should monitor for severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain or shortness of breath for 2 weeks after administration.
If experiencing symptoms, patients should contact their healthcare provider.
The Janssen, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are offered in select CVS locations. Find locations and schedule your appointment.

Who Are Booster Doses Recommended For
Everyone age 12 and older should get a booster dose. This is very important if you are age 65 and older or if you have underlying medical conditions.
When you should get your booster dose depends on which vaccine you originally received . Talk to your doctor if you have questions about boosters.
People who got the J& J vaccine should get a booster dose at least 2 months after their initial J& J dose. This includes if you are immunocompromised. The booster dose may be any COVID-19 vaccine but either Pfizer or Moderna is preferred.
People who got Pfizer or Moderna vaccines should get a booster dose at least 5 months after completing their primary series. People age 18 and over can get any of the 3 vaccines as a booster, but either Pfizer or Moderna is preferred. People 16 and 17 can only get a Pfizer booster.
Note: Booster doses are also strongly recommended for people who are considered fully vaccinated with a non-FDA authorized/approved vaccine. However, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is the only vaccine authorized as a booster for people who did not receive an FDA authorized/approved COVID-19 vaccine series. They should get a Pfizer vaccine booster least 5 months after their completing their primary series.
For more information see Booster Doses.
