Fair And Equitable Access

How to register for the COVID vaccine at Houston-area pharmacies

The Health Department is ensuring there is fair and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. Our plans account for health inequities and disparities faced by underserved communities . We are ensuring the communities hit hardest by the pandemic have access to the vaccine.

  • Taking care of daily chores
  • Coping with feelings of sadness or anxiety
  • Getting around or climbing stairs

Though not a complete list, some common examples of a reasonable accommodation are: a wheelchair provided on arrival, ASL interpretation or tactile interpretation, a quiet space if loud spaces are overwhelming, and verbal or physical guidance to navigate the vaccination site.

You can request a reasonable accommodation when you schedule your vaccination, either through the City’s online appointment scheduler or by calling 855-491-2667. You can also ask for a reasonable accommodation from staff at a City-run vaccination site, or email for more information.

Booster Vs Third Dose

  • Boosters are available six months or more after receiving the initial series for people who received the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. For people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the booster is recommended two months after the initial, single dose.

    Ottawa residents who meet the criteria are encouraged to reach out to local pharmacies using the provincial pharmacy locator to find those that provide the booster dose. Some primary care physicians are also providing boosters.

    Eligible residents can book an appointment at a community clinic through the Provincial COVID-19 Vaccination Portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900. Drop-in spots are limited, so it is recommended to book an appointment.

    Please note 84 days must have passed since your second dose before you receive your booster dose.

    Cancel Or Rescheduling A Vaccination Appointment

    Need to cancel or reschedule a vaccination appointment booked online through www.gnb.ca/bookavaccine or by calling 1-833-437-1424?

    If you have the Booking ID found in the appointment confirmation email and the date of birth of the person scheduled to receive the vaccine, you can cancel AND reschedule the appointment by .

    If you donât have the Booking ID or date of birth, you can cancel the appointment by filling out the following form OR by calling 1-833-437-1424 to reach someone who will assist you in cancelling or rescheduling your appointment.

    If you submit the cancellation form, wait to receive a cancellation email before booking a new appointment. The email will be sent within 48 hours of submitting the form. At this time, you will be able to book another appointment online or by calling 1-833-437-1424.

    The earlier you can provide notification, the better. By cancelling your appointment as soon as possible, you may be helping someone else in your community get vaccinated sooner against COVID-19.

    Booster Shots Available For 16 And Older

    How to register for the Covid

    Vaccine booster shots are now authorized for everyone 16 and older who is fully vaccinated.

    In a new incentive announced on December 21, if you get your booster dose at a City-run vaccination site by the end of 2021, you can receive a $100 pre-paid debit card.

    On The Day Of Your Appointment

    • If you feel unwell or have any symptoms of COVID-19, you should not attend the clinic
    • Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment
    • Please be aware that even though you have an appointment time, you may have to wait in line to receive the vaccine. All safety measures will be in place.
    • Take your regular medication and eat your meals as usual
    • Do not wear any scented products
    • Wear a loose-fitting top or a t-shirt so that the health care provider can easily access your arm for the vaccination
    • Need help getting to a local vaccination site? The Canadian Red Cross and Lambton Elderly Outreach are offering FREE transportation to any vaccination site to individuals aged 50+ or those of any age with disabilities who do not have access to a vehicle, public transit or another form of transportation.     City residents 65 and older can get free transportation to and from a vaccination appointment. This service is also available for those with disabilities who have no other way to get to a vaccination site.

    To schedule free transport by either ambulette or taxi , call 877-VAX-4NYC . If you are younger than 18, you must have your parent or guardian call to book the trip on your behalf.

    What To Expect At The Clinic

    Arrive prepared

    Get ready for your appointment:

    • Bring your medicare card.
    • Wear a short-sleeved shirt or a shirt with sleeves that can easily be rolled up.
    • Bring a mask with you. You will be required to wear a mask at all times.
    • Arrive 5 minutes early to your appointment and expect to stay at least 15 minutes after your vaccine.

    If this is your second dose:

    • Your Record of Immunization

    Follow signage and instruction to complete the registration process, get your vaccine, and wait in the observation area.

    Please be patient, even with appointments the clinic could be running behind schedule.

    If You Were Vaccinated Abroad

    To update your records with vaccines you received while outside of the United States, you may:

    • Contact the immunization information system in your state. You can find state IIS information on the CDC website.
    • Contact your healthcare provider or your local or state immunization program through your states health department.

    The CDC-labeled white COVID-19 Vaccination Record Cards are only issued to people vaccinated in the United States. CDC recommends you keep your documentation of being vaccinated in the other country as proof of vaccination. CDC also recommends checking with your primary care provider or state health department for options to document your vaccination status domestically.

    What Share Of The Population Has Been Partly Or Fully Vaccinated Against Covid

    The following charts show the breakdown of vaccinations by those that have been partly or fully vaccinated. A person is considered partly vaccinated if they have received only one dose of a 2-dose vaccine protocol. A person is considered fully vaccinated if they have received a single-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine.

    Get Your Vaccine Through A Pharmacy

    If you got your first dose at a pharmacy, the pharmacy that you where received your first dose from may have given you an appointment for your second dose or may reach out to you.

    Please check a pharmacyâs webpage or social media for availability before calling the pharmacy, or check the Find a Pharmacy document.

    New Brunswick now recommends that individuals get their second dose of vaccine eight weeks after receiving their first dose to ensure optimal protection however individuals are still able to receive their 2nd dose at 28 days.

    Information About Getting The Astrazeneca Vaccine

    COVID

    An mRNA vaccine is offered at all vaccine clinics. If you received AstraZeneca for your first dose, there are no safety concerns if you want to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as your second dose.

    A limited supply of AstraZeneca will soon be available at a small number of clinics in B.C. You can go on a waiting list to get AstraZeneca for dose 1 or 2. Before making your decision, we recommend you review information on second dose vaccine choice from the BCCDC.

    All Veterans are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine at VA.

    This includes anyone who served in the U.S. military, including the U.S. National Guard, Reserve, or Coast Guard.

    Adolescents are eligible if they meet either of these requirements:

    • They receive CHAMPVA benefits, or
    • They help provide care or assistance to a Veteran

    Heres what to know:

    • The Pfizer-BioNTech is the only COVID-19 vaccine authorized for use in adolescents at this time. Not all VA health facilities offer this vaccine right now. And not all VA health facilities may offer vaccines to teens under age 18.     How To Register Your Children On Cowin

    The Union Health Ministry has said beneficiaries would be able to self-register online through an existing CoWIN account. They can also register by creating a new account using a unique mobile number. This option is available for citizens eligible for vaccination at present. Children can book their vaccination slots using their parents CoWIN accounts from January 1.

    When You Are Fully Vaccinated

    After you are fully vaccinated , you are much less likely to get or spread COVID-19.

    Other benefits of vaccination:

    • All activities become safer.
    • You can take off your mask in more settings:
    • You do not need to wear a mask outdoors or when gathering with friends and family at home or in other private settings.
    • Masks are still required in schools, on public transportation, in health care settings and in certain congregate settings, such as nursing homes and homeless shelters, and at any other setting if designated by a business or location.
    • We recommend wearing a mask in all other public indoor settings, even when it is not required, as well as in any setting when you do not know the vaccination status of those around you.
    • Keep your mask on if you are around unvaccinated people who are at increased risk for severe COVID-19.
  • You no longer need to quarantine after exposure to someone with COVID-19.
  • You no longer need to get tested for COVID-19, unless you have symptoms of COVID-19 or a recent exposure, or testing is required for work, school or a specific activity.
  • Even after you are vaccinated, you should still stay home if you are sick or test positive for COVID-19.

    If you have a condition or are taking medicines that weaken your immune system, you may not be protected even if you are fully vaccinated. You should continue to take all precautions recommended for unvaccinated people until advised otherwise by your health care provider.

    Choosing Where To Receive A Second Dose

    • If you have lost your Record of Immunization and got your first dose at a New Brunswick Pharmacy, you can book an appointment through either a pharmacy or a clinic hosted by a regional health authority.
    • If you have lost your record of immunization and got your first dose at a clinic hosted by a regional health authority, you must again book through a regional health authority.
    • If you got your first dose outside of New Brunswick and have lost your record of immunization, you will need to contact the jurisdiction or organization that provided the first dose to obtain a record of that dose.

    Booster Dose Of Covid Vaccine

    How to register for Harris County’s COVID-19 vaccine list

    COVID-19 boosters are currently available through the Georgia Department of Public Health health districts and participating providers.

    CDC recommends a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine for all persons aged 18 or older, at least 6 months after completion of a mRNA vaccine primary series, or at least 2 months after receipt of the single primary dose Janssen vaccine. Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others, may prefer to get a different booster. CDCs recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

    Adolescents aged 16-17 years may receive a single booster dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 at least 6 months after completion of the primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks. At this time, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is authorized and recommended for adolescents aged 16 and 17.

    DPH continues to stress the importance of vaccination for all Georgians aged 5 years and older. Vaccination is our best tool to protect lives and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our state.
