No Trudeau Foundation Doesnt Own A Firm Supplying Pfizer Covid Vaccine

Tom Blackwell, National Post

Some social-media posters preface the allegation by saying âthere is speculation.â

Others, like renegade Ontario MPP Randy Hillier, state it as unrefuted fact, with Hillier concluding that âwe are governed by malevolent crooks.â

The allegation is that the charitable Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation owns 40 per cent of Acuitas Therapeutics, a Vancouver company that supplies the lipid delivery system for Pfizerâs COVID-19 vaccine. A vaccine the Trudeau government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars buying.

The charge has been posted and re-posted tens of thousands of times on Twitter and other social media networks in recent days, with some writers accusing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of personally profiting from the vaccine his government purchased.

If A Person Is Vaccinated Against Covid

People will not spread the virus after vaccination with the mRNA or adenovirus vaccines. The vaccines do not deliver live virus nor do they cause the body to produce virus, so there is no chance for a vaccinated person to spread the vaccine virus to others, even if they have side effects.

Of note, however, we do not yet know to what extent a vaccinated individual who gets infected may spread the virus. While an outbreak in Provincetown, MA, suggested that infected vaccinated people may have as much viral antigen as infected, previously unvaccinated individuals, the study had important limitations. Q: Am I At Risk For Serious Complications From Covid

A: Yes. Data shows that when compared to never smokers, cigarette smoking increases the risk of more severe illness from COVID-19, which could result in hospitalization, the need for intensive care, or even death. Smoking cigarettes can cause inflammation and cell damage throughout the body, and can weaken your immune system, making it less able to fight off disease.Theres never been a better time to quit smoking. If you need resources to help you quit smoking, the FDAs Every Try Counts campaign has supportive tips and tools to help you get closer to quitting for good.

How Long Before A Coronavirus Vaccine Takes Effect

The mRNA vaccines require two doses. While people will have some immunity after the first dose, protection will be most likely about one week after receipt of the second dose and the individual will be considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose.

The adenovirus vaccine requires one dose. While people will have some immunity about two weeks after being vaccinated , protection will be more robust about one month after receipt of the vaccine. Likewise, individuals are recommended to get a second dose at least 8 weeks after the first dose to further bolster their immunity.

Take A Closer Look At Why American Mask Makers Are Going Out Of Business

Back in 2005, when low-cost Chinese manufacturers were taking over the personal protective equipment industry, Mike Bowen joined a friend who had started a small surgical-mask company called Prestige Ameritech. The plan was to market his companys masks to American hospitals and distributors as a way to provide resilience a means of ensuring domestic supply, if the global supply chain ever faltered.

Every company had left America, he recalled recently. The entire U.S. mask supply was under foreign control. He remembers warning customers, If theres a pandemic, were going to be in trouble.

Which, of course, is exactly what happened. Soon after the Covid-19 pandemic took hold in 2020, the supply chain for protective equipment broke down, creating severe shortages that cost lives. A handful of U.S. entrepreneurs responded by starting to manufacture masks domestically.

In Miami, a family-owned surgical device company, DemeTech, spent several million dollars to expand its facilities, build machines and hire hundreds of employees by the fall of 2020, it was capable of churning out five million masks a day, according to Luis Arguello Jr., vice president of the company. We took a risk as a family, he said.

It is hard to know precisely how many similar efforts were born during the pandemic 36 companies are now members of the American Mask Manufacturers Association, formed to lobby Washington.

Where Can I Get The Vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines are generally widely available. As such, we recommend checking for vaccine at your providers office, local pharmacies, healthcare facilities, mass vaccination sites or mobile clinics. For children 5 to 11 years of age, we recommend contacting facilities in advance to ensure that they are vaccinating that age group.

Is There Any Hope That A Vaccine Will Help People With Lingering After Effects From Coronavirus

The lingering effects of COVID-19 are concerning, and we still have much to learn about them. A vaccine will help from the point of view that if it decreases infections, fewer people will experience illness and, therefore, fewer people will experience long-term effects. But, it is not likely that a vaccine will address these effects in someone who was already infected.

Q: Is An Approval Different From An Emergency Use Authorization Does It Change The Availability Of Covid

A: Emergency use authorizations can be used by the FDA during public health emergencies to provide access to medical products that may be effective in preventing or treating a disease. In determining whether to issue an EUA for a product, after the FDA receives an application, it evaluates the data submitted, conducts its own analyses and assesses any known or potential risks and any known or potential benefits. For COVID-19 vaccines that received emergency use authorization from the FDA, the agency evaluated data submitted by the manufacturers about the COVID-19 vaccines safety and effectiveness, and conducted its own analyses, before reaching each decision and found it to be clear and compelling to support its use for the prevention of COVID-19. Emergency use authorization is a tool that the FDA can use in a declared public health emergency, like the pandemic that we are in now, in order to more rapidly make potentially life-saving products available under very specific conditions.

An application for approval for a COVID-19 vaccine provides FDA with a wealth of data and information, such as information about safety and effectiveness in the population who will receive the vaccine.

Q: What Is The Fda Doing To Protect People From Products Making Fraudulent Covid

A: We have established a cross-agency team dedicated to closely monitoring for fraudulent COVID-19 products. Q: Is There A Shortage Of Personal Protective Equipment Such As Gloves Masks And N95 Respirators Or Of Ventilators

A: The FDA has been working closely with PPE and ventilator manufacturers to understand their supply capabilities during this pandemic. The agency is also aware of challenges throughout the supply chain that are presently impacting the availability of PPE products and is taking steps to mitigate shortages that health care facilities are already experiencing.

The FDA issued new guidance to give ventilator manufacturers and non-medical device manufacturers more flexibility to start making new ventilators and parts. How The Coronavirus Vaccines Work

The coronavirus has a spike protein on its surface that helps it enter human cells. The coronavirus vaccines help your body make antibodies that recognise this spike protein and can then fight off the virus.

The vaccines contain ingredients that give your body instructions to produce the spike protein, using the virus genetic code.

Then, your body makes antibodies that can recognise the spike protein on the coronavirus if it enters your body and help fight it off. This means that if you choose to take a vaccine, you are less likely to get severely sick if you encounter the coronavirus.

In addition, even if you were infected, you would be likely to experience disease that is less severe and of shorter duration.

Senior Ontario Liberal Was On Sunny Holiday As He Told Candidates To Cancel Vacations

US to get COVID

Bryan Passifiume, National Post

The order came down before Christmas from Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca that anyone hoping to run as a candidate in the upcoming provincial election would be prohibited from travelling out of country for sunny winter getaways. No exceptions.

But some had already made plans to travel, and they were in a bind. One candidate said she called the Ontario Liberalsâ chief returning officer, Milton Chan, in December, to explain that she had already purchased expensive non-refundable tickets. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Chan was on his own sunny vacation at the time. Still, he informed her that the edict was clear: forget about the vacation or forget about being a Liberal party candidate.

At the time, Chan was roughly a week into a six-week South American Christmas vacation that included stopovers in Colombia, sunny beaches in Rio de Janerio and Miami, and a week-long Caribbean cruise. He was not a candidate and the order didnât apply to him.

âI was told candidates would be removed if found travelling,â said the candidate, whom National Post agreed to grant anonymity to protect her from party retribution. âI lost $3,000 because my husband couldnât go either.â

Q: Does Spraying People With Disinfectant Lower The Spread Of Covid

A: Currently there are no data showing that spraying people with aerosolized disinfectants, or having people walk through tunnels or rooms where disinfectant is in the air, can treat, prevent, or lower the spread of COVID-19.

Surface disinfectants should not be used on people or animals. Disinfectant products, such as sprays, mists, wipes, or liquids are only to be used on hard, non-porous surfaces such as floors and countertops, or on soft surfaces such as mattresses, sofas, and beds. CDC provides information regarding disinfectant practices for surfaces in the Reopening Guidance for Cleaning and Disinfecting Public Spaces, Workplaces, Businesses, Schools, and Homes.

Human antiseptic drugs, such as hand sanitizers, are intended for use on human skin, but are not intended for aerosolization . Due to serious safety concerns, including the risk of inhalational toxicity and flammability, the FDAs temporary policies for alcohol-based hand sanitizers during the COVID-19 public health emergency specifically do not apply to aerosol sprays. In addition, hand sanitizers are intended for use on the hands, and should never be used over larger body surfaces, swallowed, or inhaled.
