  • Beaches
  • Public beaches, natural reserves, and marinas are open, following social distancing guidelines. Visitors should connect with tour operators directly for additional information about operation status and specific protocols.
  • Lodging
  • Upon arrival, all guests of all hotels, paradores, guesthouses, and short-term rentals across the Island must present either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR or antigen test performed by an authorized health provider taken within 48 hours of the beginning of their visit. What Happens If I Test Negative While Abroad

Testing negative while abroad is required before returning to Canada.

If taking a rapid test, travellers will be required to test negative one day before returning to Canada.

For PCR tests, travellers will be required to provide proof of a negative result taken within 72 hours of returning to the country.

Exemptions To The Vaccine Requirement

Vaccination is required for travel within and out of Canada. A valid COVID-19 molecular test will only be accepted for one of the following limited exceptions:

Passengers from small or remote communities will still be able to obtain essential services for their medical, health or social well-being, and return safely to their homes.

In addition, a number of provincial human rights commissions have taken the position that objection to vaccination for personal reasons is not a protected ground under their respective Code and does not need to be accommodated.

Applications for sincere religious beliefs may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Your request to your airline or railway must clearly demonstrate your sincere religious belief, how it prevents you from being vaccinated, and be signed by a Commissioner of Oaths.

You must submit your form 3 weeks prior to departure, and in line with the airline or railway companys exemption approval process.

If youre traveling with multiple airlines, youll need to contact each airline.

If you receive approval for a temporary exemption, youll also need to present a valid COVID-19 test before boarding.

Most travellers who qualify for an exemption will also need to have a valid COVID-19 molecular test, taken no more than 72 hours before boarding a flight or train.

False claims are an offence under the Criminal Code and false declaration could be subject to Transport Canada fines.

Connecting Or Delayed Flights

If you booked an itinerary from a U.S. state or territory to another U.S. state or territory and the itinerary has you taking a connecting flight through a foreign country, CDC does not require that you be tested. An example of this situation is an itinerary booked between the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. mainland via Japan.

However, some U.S. state and local governments and foreign governments may have their own testing requirements for air passengers arriving in their jurisdictions that may differ from U.S. federal requirements. Always check and follow recommendations or requirements related to travel to your destination in addition to U.S. federal requirements.

Yes. Any flight entering the U.S. from a foreign country, even for a connection, will require testing before departure.

If your itinerary has you arriving to the US via one or more connecting flights, your test can be taken within 1 day before the departure of the first flight.

You also have the option of getting tested en route during one of your connections. However, you should consider where in the connecting airport testing is available and if you would be able to access it while in transit. If you choose this strategy and are unable to get a test en route, you will not be able to board your flight to the United States. You should also be aware that if you test positive en route, you will not be allowed to continue your travel and may need to stay at that location until you end isolation.

What You Need To Know

  • Delay travel until you are fully vaccinated.
  • Check your destinations COVID-19 situation before traveling. State, local, and territorial governments may have travel restrictions in place.
  • Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required in indoor areas of public transportation and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs .
  • Do not travel if you have been exposed to COVID-19, you are sick, or if you test positive for COVID-19.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, get tested both before and after your trip.

Delay travel until you are fully vaccinated. Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from severe disease, slow the spread of COVID-19, and reduce the number of new variants. CDC recommends you get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if you are eligible. People who are not fully vaccinated should follow additional recommendations before, during, and after travel.

If you’re traveling internationally, whether a COVID-19 test is required largely depends on your destination as rules and regulations vary widely. The CDC strongly recommends that people don’t leave the country until they’re fully vaccinated.

All air passengers coming into the U.S. from another country, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated individuals, are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than three days before a given trip or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past three months.

The testing requirement doesn’t require to children under 2 years old.

Unvaccinated people are encouraged to undergo a viral test 1-3 days before their trip when traveling inside the country as well as internationally, the CDC said. Along with social distancing and washing their hands often, unvaccinated individuals should get tested using a viral test 3-5 days after returning home, the agency added.

Even those who receive negative test results are advised to stay home and self-quarantine for the full recommended period of seven days.

Major U.S. airlines have also created guidance to help passengers determine whether their trip requires a negative COVID-19 test result and what other precautions, if any, are necessary.

Chicago-based United Airlines offers testing options to customers flying on certain routes and to select destinations, the company said on its website, adding it “continues to explore more ways to make COVID-19 testing more accessible.”

If You Have Recovered From Covid

You need to provide a positive COVID-19 molecular test on a specimen collected at least 10 days and no more than 180 days before entering Canada as part of the pre-arrival test requirements.
