The Prices asked Walgreens to provide them with proof of vaccination so they could show medical professionals in the case of an emergency, but the pharmacy balked, according to CNN.

Evansville Walgreens Accused Of Giving Covid Shot To Family Instead Of Flu Vaccine

An employee at a Walgreens in Evansville is accused of giving a family with young children the COVID-19 vaccine instead of the flu vaccine.

An employee at a Walgreens in Evansville, Indiana, is accused of giving a COVID-19 vaccine to a family with young children instead of a flu shot.

The pharmacy in question is at the Walgreens on St. Joseph Avenue.

Here is what we know right now, according to an attorney for the family.

The incident in question happened Monday, October 4, 2021, at about 4:00 p.m.

The attorney, Dan Tulley, says his clients are Josh and Alex Price. They claim their two children, ages 4 and 5, went to the Walgreens to receive their annual flu shot.

The couple says instead of the flu shot, they all received the Pfizer vaccine instead.

The FDA has not approved the COVID-19 vaccine in any dosage for 4- and 5-year-old children.

Alex, the children’s mother says a Walgreens representative called them to inform them of the mistake just after 5:30 that same evening.

According to the attorney, the children experienced a few adverse effects since receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The children are being monitored by medical experts.

Walgreens released the following statement on the matter:

Due to privacy laws, we cannot comment on specific patient events.

An employee at Walgreens would not comment if the person accused of administering the shot was still working or placed on leave.

A Walgreens store in North Carolina mistakenly gave people shots of saline instead of a COVID-19 vaccine, the company said.

The pharmacy chain insisted that a limited number of people were impacted by the mix-up at a location in Monroe, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Those who received saline instead of the COVID-19 shot were contacted to reschedule their appointments as soon as possible, the company assured.

These patients will later receive their second dose within the appropriate time frame, the statement said.

Lisa Strawn said she and her husband were among the people who received the wrong injection on March 20 at the store, news station WRAL reported.

They called us and told us we needed to come back the next day, that there had been a mix-up with our shot, she told the outlet.

Strawn said she was told that the pharmacist had forgotten to mix the Pfizer vaccine and they had only received saline.

The employee told her that it was only when the store had too much vaccine left over at the end of the day that they realized the mistake.

I just thought it was important that people know, just be careful, Strawn told WRAL. You know, check behind them.

Walgreens said its investigating the incident and have taken immediate steps to review our procedures with the location to prevent this from occurring again.

Hoping to get an edge on the millions of other newly eligible New Yorkers Id be competing with for an appointment, I spent a few days before the big day figuring out how and where to sign up for a vaccine between the many portals for my state, my city, health care providers, and retail pharmacies that were distributing them.

Last November, the Trump administration announced a partnership with retail pharmacies to distribute coronavirus vaccines, which would provide people across the country with more places to get vaccines and people to administer them. Thats a good thing. The other side of it is, as the Wall Street Journal reported this week, some pharmacies are taking advantage of the program to make some extra money off of their new customers.

To schedule vaccination appointments, we ask people to create a Walgreens account to fulfill data and reporting requirements online before arriving at a store location, a Walgreens spokesperson told Recode. This enables a safer and more streamlined in-store experience reducing lines and in-store wait times that can be a by-product of collecting this information at the pharmacy counter.
