If you are suffering from Covid-19 and are in home-isolation, it is imperative that you follow a balanced diet apart from consuming prescribed medicines in order to recover soon. Weakness is one of the major side-effects of battling the deadly virus and the loss of taste and smell often forces patients to refrain from eating on time.
However, that can hinder the recovery process as proper nutrition is an absolute must in order to defeat the virus if you contract it.

WHAT TO EAT IF YOU ARE COVID-POSITIVE?
“Covid patients in home isolation should opt for a balanced diet, rich in reasonable carbohydrates, protein and unsaturated fat. As for protein, patients can consume fish as well as boiled eggs. Chicken can be consumed in small quantities. Red meat must not be consumed at all,” Swapan Banerjee, nutrition researcher from Kolkata, told IndiaToday.in.
For patients, dishes must be prepared in olive oil, soyabean oil or canola oil, “as this is good fat,” he said. “The diet should be rich in enough vitamins and minerals.”

Covid patients must drink at least 10 glasses of water, Swapan Banerjee said. “Apart from water, ORS or coconut water should be consumed twice daily,” dietitian Chayanika Sarmah from Noida told IndiaToday.in.

Nutrition Matters But Calories Matter Too
You may have heard the saying, “starve a fever, feed a cold” but there isn’t research to back that up. Your body needs calories for energy to help fight an infection.
There really isn’t any one food that seems to help with flu-like symptoms. There are certain nutrientsincluding protein, vitamins A, C, D and E and zincthat help support your immune system.
I don’t recommend starting a new supplement routine right now, especially without talking to your doctor or a dietitian first, mainly because many of these nutrients are easy to get in your diet by eating a varied diet and also because in large quantities they may lead to negative side effects.
A smoothie made with fruit and yogurt or nut butter may help you get calories in if you’re not hungry. Chicken soup is comforting and may be beneficial when you have a respiratory infection. Ginger may help with any nausea .
Trying to get calories in however you can and eating foods that help you feel good is probably going to be more important than worrying about getting enough zinc or vitamin A.
Habit 5: Shorter Eating Window
An eating window should not be longer than 12 hours and as you get more comfortable with this you can decrease the window to 10, 8 or 6hrs. Each person will find what works for them and you can switch up the windows depending on your day as well. You may do 12 hours on Monday, 8 hours Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 hours Thursday etc. Its important to try and incorporate this easily into your life vs. being strict on 6hr eating window and failing in week 1. This eating window is a strategy to help your body have extra time in the fasting window so it can process everything and have a rest period instead of working from the minute you wake to the minute you sleep with digestion. During the fasting window your body will be using your stored fat for energy instead of food when you are in the eating window. This also helps our body get rid of cells we dont want through apoptosis, a cancer fighting method that everyone should be on board with.;
How To Start
See how long your eating window current is on the average day, it might surprise you. Then see if you can make it 1-2 hours shorter for the first week.;
Have your eating window as small as you can and have your workout during the fasted window. For example, if you workout at noon and start your eating window at 1pm and finish eating at 7pm then in bed by 9:30pm, you would create an ideal burning fat machine .;
