Heres The Best Way To Get A Covid Vaccine Appointment At Cvs Rite Aid And Walgreens
- 8:51 ET, Mar 2 2021
LOCAL pharmacies such as CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens have begun taking appointment for patients to receive their Covid vaccine.
The local chain pharmacies have started collecting data from millions of customers as they sign up for the jab.
Covid jabs are in high demand across the nation even for local chain pharmacies to keep up with.
“The Covid-19 vaccine demand heavily outweighs supply,” a Rite Aid spokesman told The Wall Street Journal.
“When the appointments are made available they are filled quickly.”
Here are some tips on how to book a Covid vaccine appointment at your local CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens.
Early Registration For Cvs Covid Vaccines Could Make It Easier To Snag Appointment
LEE COUNTY, Fla. For the third day in a row, CVS vaccine appointments in the SWFL area, have opened at 3 a.m.
Several people said they were able to log on around 6 a.m. to secure an appointment.
I really had no trouble getting through, said Cape Coral resident Evelyn Dodson. I immediately got someone, its just a matter of whether there is appointments or not.
A CVS spokesperson said there is no set time for when appointments open. They said it depends on when supply becomes available.
Evan Lutz, a network security engineer at Cigent Technology in Fort Myers, said the early open wings, might actually make it easier to get on the website.
It probably wouldnt be difficult for CVS to handle the traffic at three in the morning because there are not that many people awake trying to access their servers, Lutz said.
Follow County Officials And Vaccine Distribution Groups
While you are following groups on Facebook, its recommended that you also follow local officials for your area and groups that are in charge of mass vaccine clinics. In my own town, there have been a couple of occasions when a vaccine drive had far more no-shows than expected and they had several hundred vaccines leftover that were suddenly available.
This information was shared by the medical group providing the shots and the local county judge on Facebook. As you would expect, within an hour or so, all extra vaccines were spoken for, so check often and move quickly.

Find Local Social Media Groups And Accounts
Facebook groups have began popping up in most state with members scouting local websites and checking appointment availability.
Many groups help book appointments for in-need seniors, however if you plan to ask for help from someone online be very careful when sharing your personal information.
For your safety don’t share highly personal information such as passwords or social security numbers – just your basic info such as name, date of birth, address, phone number and email address.

The Site Made It Difficult To Make An Appointment For Screen Reader Users Or Those Who Have Trouble With A Mouse
WOONSOCKET, RI CVS Pharmacy did not offer accessibility accommodations in its online vaccine portal, according to a settlement announced by the Department of Justice Monday. Customers seeking COVID-19, influenza and other vaccinations from the Rhode Island-based pharmacy giant could not use a screen reader, the DOJ said.
The federal Americans With Disabilities Act requires that businesses including pharmacies and grocery stores provide people with disabilities “full and equal enjoyment of goods and services,” as well as communication aids for those who need them.
The DOJ and Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha investigated the Woonsocket company and determined that the vaccine registration portal was not fully accessible to people who have trouble using a mouse or need a screen reader, Cunha’s Office said in a release. At the beginning of the scheduling process, the different types of vaccinations offered COVID-19, influenza, pneumonia, and so forth were not read by the screen reader, and in a later step all appointments were read as “checked” by the screen reader, even if they were available. Users who used the “tab” key instead of clicking through with a mouse were unable to get past the insurance page, the release continued.
Other People Who Are Age 18 Years And Older
People who are ages 18 years and older may get a booster shot based on their individual risks and benefits. This recommendation may change in the future as more data become available.
All people ages 18 years and older who received a J& J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine at least 2 months ago should get a booster shot, for a total of two shots. A single dose of the J& J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine has lower vaccine effectiveness compared to two doses.
Bring your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record card to your booster shot appointment so your provider can fill in the information about your booster dose.If you did not receive a card at your first appointment, contact the vaccination site where you got your first shot or your state health department to find out how you can get a card.

Cvs Website Shows Covid
NORFOLK, Va. COVID-19 vaccine appointments filled up quickly at CVS pharmacies around Hampton Roads after the pharmacy said more would be available Thursday.
As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, all appointments to get a shot at any store around the region were ‘fully booked’ according to the CVS website.
A corporate spokesperson confirmed that all appointments had been filled for the week, but said more appointments would be available next week when the pharmacy is expected to get its next shipment of vaccines in Virginia.
The pharmacy’s vaccine rollout didn’t go over smoothly this week.
When getting CVS onboard for vaccinations, the Virginia Department of Health requested it to only schedule appointments for people who had pre-registered at their local health departments and were waiting their turns for a shot.
That didn’t work, so VDH asked the pharmacy to open their schedule early and allow local health departments to register people themselves. However, CVS couldn’t limit online access to just the health districts, so anybody online could sign up for an appointment which led to more confusion and frustration.
CVS said they’re only giving shots to people ages 65 and over at this time even if they aren’t registered with their local health departments.
Appointments are added on a rolling basis as they become available. The pharmacy gets 26,000 vaccine doses each week which are divided between the 36 stores that are offering appointments.

At the end, you’ll land on a page where you input your zip code and search for appointments. Keep clicking the zip code to see whether new appointments have been added.
If you get a slot, you’ll be asked to fill out a questionnaire. If you don’t know the answer to the question select “Don’t Know” to proceed.
After you’ve input your personal information in the scheduler, you’ll get a list of local stores that offer the vaccine.
You’ll need to select a location and press Next in the bottom right to see whether theres availability.
There are reports in many states of new appointments appearing around midnight Eastern Time, however it’s best to keep checking frequently.
Walgreens: For appointment booking through Walgreens, start with the vaccine-availability checker.
Unlike Rite Aid and CVS, Walgreens requires users to have an account in order to book an appointment.
Walgreens also offers phone booking at 1-800-Walgreens.

More Frustration With Vaccine Appointment Registration At Cvs
NORFOLK, Va. As promised, CVS released more available appointments for COVID-19 vaccines Thursday morning. However, they were gone within minutes.
CVS will start actually administering the doses on Friday, Feb. 12. They have 26,000 doses to start through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, and 26,000 additional are expected next week.
Many people contacted 10 On Your Side with their frustrations. Weve heard from a few people who were able to make an appointment, but most people did not have that outcome and are frustrated.
At 4:30 Thursday morning, Robert Place was on the CVS website, hopeful that he beat the rush.
When I got to the final page to make the appointment, it came up with another page that said our scheduler is being updated and it did that for the next hour and a half, said Place. I could not get in. That whole time, Im watching the cities in dwindle away.
He was taken to another page, with another 30 minute wait.
I thought I was hitting pay dirt, Place said. I wound up just hitting dirt.
Place never made an appointment, after hours on the computer.
Total frustration, he said. I dont know why the system kept saying that it was being updated.
His new plan is to wake up even earlier.
Im going to try again at midnight tonight and see if I can get that to work, said Place. It would mean that I dont have to worry so much about being, about contracting this COVID-19.

Who Is First In Line
Consumers are advised to make sure theyre eligible for the vaccine and to check pharmacy websites often to see if they can get an appointment.
Pharmacy chains Walgreens and CVS have been providing the first phase of vaccines at long-term care facilities. Theyve been on site at select nursing homes and assisted living facilities to vaccinate residents and staff who have suffered a disproportionately high death toll from COVID-19. Many frontline healthcare workers are also receiving the vaccine at their workplaces.
These vulnerable people make up priority group 1a, the first group recommended to receive the vaccine based on criteria adopted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . It has been difficult to get enough vaccines to the estimated 21 million healthcare workers and 3 million long-term care residents who are eligible for the first round.
To pick up the pace, the federal government in mid-January announced expanded vaccine eligibility for people 65 and older and people with chronic health conditions that put them at risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
