If I Am Currently Taking Antibiotics Can I Get The Covid
As long as you are not still sick from your recent infection, you can get the COVID-19 mRNA or adenovirus-based vaccine even if you are taking an antibiotic. But, if you are still having symptoms, you should wait until you are feeling better, so that it is easier to tell if any new symptoms are from your infection or the vaccination.

How Well Does The Covid
The clinical trial measured two things to evaluate how the vaccine worked:
Can I Get More Than One Covid
It’s recommended that both of your first two shots of a two-shot series vaccine be the same brand. If your first shot was Moderna, your second shot should also be Moderna, and the same for Pfizer. However, after completing your two-shot series of either Pfizer or Moderna, you may choose to “mix and match” and receive a different brand for your booster shot. Learn more about booster shots here.

How Can A Safe Vaccine Be Made So Quickly
Vaccine development usually takes many years, however, scientists had already begun research for coronavirus vaccines during previous outbreaks caused by related coronaviruses, such as SARS and MERS . That earlier research provided a head start for rapid development of vaccines to protect against infection with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Do You Ever Throw Away Vaccine
Never. We are dedicated to getting this vaccine into everyones arm. Vaccines come in vials that have either five doses or 10 doses . On rare occasions, there might be a dose or two left at the end of a session that needs to be administered to avoid throwing it out. In those instances the Department of Health will do its best to identify alternative individuals within that priority group to get the vaccine. If we cannot do so in a timely manner, we may need to vaccinate a very small number of people out of order to prevent wasting the vaccine. This is why it is critical that everybody who signs up for a vaccine comes to their appointment.

Anyone In The United States Can Get Vaccinated
The federal government is providing vaccines free of charge to everyone 5 years and older living in the United States, regardless of their immigration or health insurance status.
Ensuring that everyone ages 5 years and older in the United States can receive a COVID-19 vaccine helps us get closer to the goal of achieving population immunity. Population immunity makes it harder for COVID-19 to spread from person to person, and it even helps protect people who cannot receive a vaccine, like newborns.
CDC does not require U.S. citizenship for individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Jurisdictions cannot add U.S. citizenship requirements or require U.S. citizenship verification as a requirement for vaccination.
Should I Stop Taking My Daily Dose Of Aspirin Before Getting The Covid
If your daily dose of aspirin was prescribed by your physician following a stroke or heart attack, we recommend speaking to that doctor about whether to stop taking your medication for a day or two prior to vaccination. If, however, your daily dose of aspirin is because you have risk factors for a stroke or heart attack but have never had a stroke or heart attack, you should consider discontinuing the aspirin not only prior to your COVID-19 vaccine, but all together. The data show that while daily aspirin helps prevent second strokes or heart attacks, it does not help prevent first occurrences, even in people who are at increased risk. Our director, Dr. Paul Offit, carefully reviewed the data related to this topic for his book, Overkill: When Modern Medicine Goes Too Far.

Will People Who Have Already Had Covid
Yes. Once they have completed their isolation period, people previously infected with COVID-19 should receive the vaccine. According to the CDC, people appear to become susceptible to reinfection after more than 90 days from the time they were initially infected. Reinfection appears to be rare during the first 90 days after someone was infected with COVID-19. It is currently unknown how long immunity from natural infection lasts, and being vaccinated can help prevent re-infection, serious illness, hospitalization and death.
What You Need To Know

What Is The Difference Between A Third Dose And Booster Dose Of Covid
A booster shot is for people who likely had a fulsome immune response to the regular two-dose vaccine regimen, but with time, the immunity and clinical protection has fallen below a rate deemed sufficient to protect against COVID-19 infection. A booster dose should be offered 22 weeks after completing the primary series.
A third dose is for people who may not have developed a strong enough immune response to fight off COVID-19 after two doses. For example, evidence suggests that compared to the general population, individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised have lower immune responses to COVID-19 vaccines. The third dose should be offered at least 28 days after the second dose.
Vaccine Order Begins For New York Citys Private Employers
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that all employers in New York City must now verify that their on-site workers have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
One thing we can all agree, and Ive talked to a lot of business leaders about this: Covid is bad for humans, its bad for our health, but its also bad for business. And if we want to avoid shutdowns, and I believe we must, we need more and more people vaccinated. So today, the mandate goes into effect for the entire private sector in New York City, all employers. This is how we get people vaccinated. And weve been engaging business leaders a lot of questions and concerns, which were working with them on, but also a lot of recognition that this works. And my job is to protect people. So I am 110 percent convinced this was the right thing to do. It remains the right thing to do, particularly with the ferocity of Omicron. And I dont know if theres going to be another variant behind it, but I do know our best defense is to get everyone vaccinated and mandates have worked, so Im very comfortable what were doing.
Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday implemented what he cast as the most sweeping vaccine mandate for private businesses in the nation.
All employers in New York City now have to verify that their on-site workers have received at least one dose of a vaccine. If employees have opted for a two-dose vaccine, they must submit proof that they have received the second dose within 45 days.

Goldman Sachs Will Mandate Boosters And More Coronavirus Testing
Goldman Sachs has responded to surging coronavirus cases by stepping up vaccine requirements instead of sending staff home.
The investment bank, which called most workers back to the office in June, will mandate boosters for all employees eligible to receive one beginning Feb. 1, according to a memo sent to staff on Monday. The expanded requirement also applies to guests.
Beginning Jan. 10, Goldman will also require employees to be tested for the virus twice a week at on-site testing centers. Currently, employees in the office have to get tested once a week.
Some large employers have held off on imposing their own vaccine mandates as legal battles and rising virus cases have complicated their plans. Jefferies, another investment bank, told its staff to work remotely earlier this month and will mandate boosters for anyone coming into its New York office by Jan. 31. The Washington Post will require booster shots and weekly testing for every staff member when it brings employees back to the office by mid-February.
Goldmans approach contrasts that of other Wall Street giants, which have largely paused return-to-office plans during the holidays as the Omicron variant has spread. Bank of America told employees in its New York City corporate offices last week that they could work from home during the holidays. It is providing self-test kits and will host booster clinics in some locations across the country come January. JPMorgan also encouraged its staff to get vaccinated.
If A Person Has Allergic Reactions To A Food Or Medication Can They Get The Vaccine
People with severe allergies to a COVID-19 vaccine ingredient or a previous dose of COVID-19 vaccine should not get that type of COVID-19 vaccine . They may be able to get the alternative type after consultation with an allergist or immunologist. Individuals with a known allergy to polysorbate should not get the COVID-19 vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson/Janssen.
People with immediate allergic reactions to an injectable medication can most often get the COVID-19 vaccine however, they should remain at the site where they were vaccinated for 30 minutes of observation, instead of the 15 minutes that the general public is recommended to wait. Anyone with this type of allergy who has questions or concerns should discuss the situation with their healthcare provider to assess the potential risks and benefits of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
People who have had an anaphylactic reaction to anything else are allowed to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but should remain at the site where the injection was given for 30 minutes, instead of the 15 minutes that the general population are recommended to wait.
If a person with history of allergies continues to have concerns about whether or not it is safe to get the COVID-19 vaccine, they should contact their primary care provider or allergist, who has the benefit of their complete medical history and will, therefore, be in the best position to discuss any potential risks and benefits for that individual.

Do The Variants Affect Vaccine Effectiveness
Current variants circulating in the U.S. are being monitored for their ability to spread, cause more severe disease, and evade vaccines and treatments. To date, most of the changes have allowed for easier spread or had minor effects on vaccines or treatments. So far, none of the variants have changed enough that they require new vaccines however, scientists are working on vaccines that would be able to protect against the most concerning variants in case additional doses become necessary.
With Omicron Infecting So Many More People Who Then Have To Isolate Or Quarantine Longer Periods Could Crush The Ability Of Hospitals Airlines Schools And Other Industries To Stay Open Experts Say
- MIKE STOBBEAssociated Press
A middle school principal walks the empty halls of his school Aug., 20, 2021, in Wrightsville, Georgia. With omicron, the sheer number of people becoming infected and therefore having to isolate or quarantine threatens to crush the ability of hospitals, airlines, schools and other industries to stay open, experts say.

Is It Safe For My Teen To Get The Covid
Cases of myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart, have been reported in a small number of teens after receipt of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. The condition is continuing to be investigated. Here is what we know to date:
The CDC will continue to monitor the situation related to myocarditis, but for now, there is not a reason to stop vaccinating kids. The American Heart Association has also released a statement encouraging continued vaccination.
General Public In Spring Summer Or Fall
Brewer, the UCLA epidemiologist, said that the FDA giving emergency authorization to a COVID-19 vaccine would be an important step forward, but he cautioned against regarding it as a sign that normal life is just around the corner.
Its unlikely the general public would get access to the vaccine until spring or summer, he said. Even with the vaccine, people will probably still have to practice physical distancing and wear masks.
The San Francisco Department of Health said Wednesday that the general population will not have access to the shots until the vaccine supply is no longer limited, which is likely to occur in the summer or fall.
If I were planning a wedding for next summer, I would plan it in a way so that everything is cancelable, Brewer said.
It may be best for activities like nonessential travel, including vacations abroad, to wait until after the summer or be planned with fully refundable tickets depending on the information to come out of ongoing studies of the virus and vaccines.
International trips could still pose risks, Brewer noted, since other countries will need time to build up their own vaccination programs, supply chains and infrastructure, particularly cold storage. He said, though, that the U.S. could reach herd immunity with around 60% to 70% of the population vaccinated by mid- to late 2021.
Im optimistic we will have a better Thanksgiving and Christmas next year than we did this year.

Does It Prevent Infection And Transmission
No substantive data are available related to impact of AZD1222 on transmission or viral shedding.
In the meantime, we must maintain and strengthen public health measures that work: masking, physical distancing, handwashing, respiratory and cough hygiene, avoiding crowds, and ensuring good ventilation.
As of 19 April 2021, the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective at protecting people from the extremely serious risks of COVID-19, including death, hospitalization and severe disease. Read the 16 April 2021 statement of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety on AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, which covers reports of very rare side effects.
