Kamala Harris Wins Coin Toss For Her Alma Mater At Howard

A heavily promoted, live appearance by Vice President Kamala Harris on ABCs The View Friday morning was repeatedly delayed before ending up as a remote, 8-minute interview after two co-hosts were pulled from the set mid-show for testing positive for the coronavirus.

But the on-air debacle appears to have been a needless precaution because two rounds of follow-up tests were negative, a source familiar with the matter told The Post.

The hosts of;The View;are all tested multiple times a week and the false-positive results that sent the show off the rails were actually;the product of tests;administered on Thursday,;the source said.

But those results werent passed along until the hosts were already on the air Friday morning, the source said.;Its unclear why that was allowed to happen.

The more accurate PCR tests for COVID-19, which take several hours to produce results, were also being conducted, the source said.

Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro were unexpectedly told by executive;producer Brian Teta to leave the set near the start of the hourlong talk shows second segment, which;was quickly cut short.

Joy Behar had earlier touted the upcoming appearance by Harris as the vice presidents;very first, in-studio interview.

Behar later told viewers that Hostin and Navarro had both apparently tested positive for COVID.

No matter how hard we try, these things happen, Behar said.

The Secret Service is doing things to make her feel safe, Behar said.

If You Test Positive On A Rapid Antigen Test

Rapid antigen tests are not as accurate as lab-based PCR tests. A positive result on a rapid antigen screen is considered a preliminary positive. Those who test positive on a rapid antigen test must get a follow-up lab-based PCR test immediately to confirm the result.

Confirm your rapid antigen test result with a lab-based PCR test by making an appointment at either:

  • an assessment centre
  • a participating community lab

Do not go to a pharmacy for a follow-up confirmatory test.

The person conducting your rapid test will explain what the results mean and what you should do.

If you do not get a confirmatory test after your positive result on the antigen test, you should remain self-isolated until 10 days have passed since your positive antigen test result. If you do not get a confirmatory test you should also inform everyone that you were in close contact with 48 hours before your positive antigen result that they should self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19.

Read the latest provincial testing guidance.

How Contact Tracing Works

  • A person has COVID-19 symptoms, takes the;online self-assessment;to book a test and then tests positive.
  • Public Health staff interview the positive person to identify public areas they have visited and people theyâve spent time with. These people are contacts. Public Health maintains the privacy of the positive person. Anyone who tests positive can choose to tell others about their diagnosis, but Public Health will not. ;
  • Public Health gets in touch with the close contacts and asks them about symptoms of COVID-19.;Close contacts with no symptoms are asked to isolate and monitor for symptoms for 14 days after their last contact with the case. Contacts with symptoms are sent for testing. Non-close contacts will be asked to self-monitor.
  • If a contact tests positive, Public Health will reach out to all their close contacts and restart the process.

Do I Need To Quarantine Upon Arrival To The United States

Should you get a coronavirus test just in case?

There are a lot of factors to keep in mind before visiting America. Fortunately, if you are planning a big holiday to the US, quarantining upon arrival is not something you have to consider.

The United States government does not currently require citizens from any nation in the world to quarantine. After receiving an approved negative viral coronavirus test within 72 hours of flying, you are all set.

Even so, it is highly advisable that visitors who have tested negative and are vaccinated still take extra precautions while they are in an unfamiliar place. Part of the charm of international vacationing is letting yourself go in a new environment.

While it is tempting to pretend like you can ignore the pandemic in a new country, it is best to always be vigilant and to take precautions to best combat the virus.

    About The Testing Process

Testing for COVID-19 involves collecting nasal and throat swabs, and/or sputum . These samples are then transferred to the nearest laboratory that is set up to test for COVID-19.

If you are tested for COVID-19 but aren’t really sick, you will be sent home to isolate while you wait for the test results. This may take several days.

If you are really sick you may be admitted to hospital for treatment. If you become sicker while you are waiting for results, please contact your doctor or call an ambulance. Make sure you let them know you are waiting for test results for COVID-19.

If the result is positive, you will receive a call from a public health doctor or nurse who will tell you what to do next.

If the result is negative, your doctor or the clinic that tested you may let you know. Depending on where you got tested, you may just receive an automated SMS. If you have been issued with a notice telling you to self-quarantine, you must stay in self-quarantine until the end date written on the notice, even if you get a negative result. This is because you may still develop COVID-19 infection.

If you are waiting on a test result, the people you live with and other close contacts do not need to be in quarantine unless the local public health unit tells them to. They should stay away from the sick person as much as possible. If the test result is positive, they may be assessed as a close contact and will then need to be in quarantine.
