None of the 27 airmen sought any type of exemption, medical, administrative or religious, Stefanek said. Several officials from the other services said they believe that so far only the Air Force has gotten this far along in the process and discharged people over the vaccine refusal.
As a result, they were formally removed from service for failure to obey an order. Stefanek said it is also possible that some had other infractions on their records, but all had the vaccine refusal as one of the elements of their discharge.
It is not unusual for members of the military to be thrown out of the service for disobeying an order discipline is a key tenet of the armed services. As a comparison, Stefanek said that in the first three quarters of 2021, about 1,800 airmen were discharged for failure to follow orders.
According to the latest Air Force data, more than 1,000 airmen have refused the shot and more than 4,700 are seeking a religious exemption. As of last week, a bit more than 97% of the active duty Air Force had gotten at least one shot.
Members of the Navy and the Marine Corps had until Nov. 28 to get the shots and their Reserve members have until Dec. 28. Army active duty soldiers have until Wednesday, and members of the Army National Guard and the Reserves have the most time to be vaccinated, with a deadline of next June 30.

Crowd Boos Trump After He Reveals He Took Covid Booster
Trump once again claimed credit for producing the vaccine, saying vaccine wariness was playing into the hands of his opponents
Donald Trump revealed he received a booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine, drawing boos from a crowd of his supporters in Dallas.
The former president made the disclosure on Sunday night during the final stop of The History Tour, a live interview show he has been doing with the former Fox News host Bill OReilly.
Both the president and I are vaxxed, OReilly said at the American Airlines Center, drawing some jeers from the audience, according to video shared online by OReillys No Spin News.
Did you get the booster? he asked the former president. Yes, Trump responded. I got it, too, OReilly said, eliciting more hectoring.
Dont! Dont! Dont! Dont! Dont! Trump told the crowd, waving off their reaction with his hand.
While Trump has expressed opposition to vaccine mandates, he has long taken credit for the vaccines developed on his watch, a stance he reiterated during the interview.
We got a vaccine done, he said, telling supporters that wariness of the vaccine was playing into the hands of his opponents. Dont take it away from ourselves. Youre playing right into their hands when you sort of like, oh the vaccine no mandates, but take credit.
‘Youre playing right into their hands’ when you doubt the vaccine, President Trump says.

Once People Start Taking The Covid
Until a vast majority of the public is inoculated with the vaccine, and more is learned about the immunity produced by the vaccines, people need to continue the current preventative measures to stop the spread of the virus. While the vaccine is the most important tool in controlling the pandemic, it is not a magic bullet that can end the pandemic right away. However as more and more people get the vaccine and/or develop natural immunity, we will get to the point where masks and social distancing are no longer needed.

The FDA has authorized three COVID-19 vaccines which have been shown to be safe and effective as determined by data from the manufacturers and findings from large clinical trials. This data demonstrates that the known and potential benefits of this vaccine outweigh the known and potential harms of becoming infected with COVID 19. CVS Health is only administering vaccines that have been authorized for use by the FDA and our COVID-19 vaccination services are being conducted in compliance with CDC guidance for safe delivery of vaccines.
Who Qualifies For A Booster Shot
Following guidelines set by ACIP and the CDC on November 19, all individuals who are over the age of 18 are eligible to receive a Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster shot at least six months after their primary two-dose vaccination series.
On December 9, the FDA and CDC authorized the administration of a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for patients ages 16-17 years, six months after receiving the second dose of their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.
Eligible individuals do not need to receive a booster shot that matches the formulation of their primary series. If individuals choose a booster dose that differs from their primary vaccine series, the manufacturers recommend individuals should check with their health care provider regarding the timing of the booster dose.
Additionally, individuals who are 18 years and old and received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine may receive a single booster does of Johnson & Johnson , Moderna, or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at least two months after receiving their primary vaccination.
Patients who received a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and prefer to receive a Johnson & Johnson booster are encouraged to contact their primary care provider for best next steps or refer tovaccines.govfor more information.

Mistrust Scaring Migrants Away
But one of the biggest problems Armijo and others have seen as they try to help Hispanic and Black Texans get vaccinated is a lack of trust in government. Gonzales said that the rhetoric and immigration policies of former president Donald Trump eroded some peoples trust in government, especially undocumented people. Many remain concerned about giving any personal information to government agencies at any level.
During that administration, it forced people of Mexican descent or any immigrants to hide in the shadows because of the fear of deportation or the fear of going to jail for whatever rhyme or reason, Gonzales said.
Armijo said that this is why she is not surprised that many Hispanics avoid using free transportation provided by cities to go to vaccination sites.
They don’t trust getting on an unmarked van and being told that they’re being taken downtown someplace, Armijo said. Someone told me that they went to one of those rec centers to get on the bus, but they saw a bunch of police there. … So they just kept driving because they were scared.
On top of this, Hispanics have been bombarded with misinformation about vaccines on Facebook and Whatsapp.
I told my son that … if he gets the disease, he would probably die. And that I couldnt live with that, Montemayor said. He then told me, Ok, if I get the vaccine, you have to get it too.
Meanwhile, some advocates are asking the county to open vaccination centers in churches and other religious buildings.

What Is The Status Of The Covid
There are currently several vaccines under development. The FDA has granted an Emergency Use Authorization to the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines and may choose to give other vaccines the same approval based on the careful review of the safety data. Additional COVID-19 vaccines in development are expected to be available in 2021.
State Takes Away Vaccine Allotments
Along with Dallas County, Tarrant County was also selected as a FEMA COVID-19 mass vaccination site, with both receiving notification by the state that their doses would get cut.
âWe made our case, we presented the facts and we were selected to receive 21,000 vaccines per week in Dallas County and 21,000 vaccines per week in Tarrant County so long as those vaccines go to the most underserved communities in those counties,â said Jenkins of the FEMA partnership.
But now, neither county will obtain the amount initially promised to them.
âSo, after we were awarded the allotment for specific underserved communities that are not on our list of registration currently, the state pulled 42,000 vaccine allotments from Dallas and Tarrant County hospitals, cities and counties and mass vaccination sites,â Jenkins said. âObviously, thatâs not right. North Texas should not be punished by the state, because local officials successfully made their pitch to get more vaccines from the Biden administration for people who are in underserved areas off the list.â
Jenkins said to date, 650,000 people remain on the list in Dallas County and 600,000 have signed up to receive the vaccine in Tarrant County. If the decision to cut the vaccines isnât reversed, he said the wait time for those wanting the vaccine could end up being longer, thus pushing back the countyâs chance at reaching herd immunity sooner rather than later.
