Where To Get Covid Vaccine In Palm Beach County

Are Patients Eligible For A 4th Covid

Dozens of Palm Beach County doctors urge community to get COVID-19 vaccine

At this time, only moderately or severely immunocompromised patients who received Moderna or Pfizer for their primary series are eligible for a 4th dose, which would be their 1st booster. Eligible patients should receive the booster five months after completing the primary three-dose series, according to CDC guidance.

Florida Adds 6979 New Covid

Florida reported more than 6,900 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, as the state’s virus-related death toll increased by over 200.

The positivity rate for new cases in the state was 7.77% in Wednesday’s department of health coronavirus report, after two straight days above 8%. The positivity rate for all cases, including people who have already been tested, was at 10.07%.

Florida’s daily vaccine report showed about 1,367,000 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination since the state started administering the vaccine in mid-December. Over 421,000 have received the second booster shot.

How Many Doses Have Been Donated By Each Country

These charts show the cumulative number of doses donated to the COVAX initiative by different countries, broken down by whether the donations have only been announced, actually donated, or delivered to the recipients. This is only available for a select number of countries for which the COVID-19 Task Force reports the necessary data.

The three following charts show the number of doses donated, adjusted for:

  • The population of the donating country
  • The GDP of the donating country
  • The number of doses administered by the donating country to its own population.

Who Qualifies For A Booster Shot

Following guidelines set by ACIP and the CDC all individuals who are over the age of 18 are eligible to receive a Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster shot at least five months after their primary two-dose vaccination series.

The FDA and CDC also authorized the administration of a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for patients ages 12-17 years, five months after receiving the second dose of their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

Eligible individuals do not need to receive a booster shot that matches the formulation of their primary series. If individuals choose a booster dose that differs from their primary vaccine series, the manufacturers recommend individuals should check with their health care provider regarding the timing of the booster dose.

Additionally, individuals who are 18 years and old and received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine may receive a single booster does of Johnson & Johnson , Moderna, or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at least two months after receiving their primary vaccination.

Patients who received a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and prefer to receive a Johnson & Johnson booster are encouraged to contact their primary care provider for best next steps or refer to vaccines.govfor more information.

How Do I View My Minor Childs Vaccination Records

Check your email for the COVID-19 vaccination record if both the following conditions apply:

    • The minor was vaccinated at CVS Pharmacy®
    • An email address was provided at scheduling/check-in

A record of the vaccination should have been immediately sent to that address. It would have been sent from with a subject line of For Your Records.

Wealth Race Bigger Factors Than Hesitancy

CBS MoneyWatch showed its findings to a number of experts who have been studying vaccine distribution around the U.S. All said that while there appears to be a higher degree of vaccine hesitancy among Blacks, that alone can’t explain the gap in vaccination rates between Black and White residents of Florida.

“There are a number of reasons certain counties have had more vaccinations than others,” said Emma Boswell Dean, an assistant professor of health management and policy at University of Miami’s Herbert Business School. “Vaccination hesitancy has played a role, but the wealth ingredient and the race ingredient have been bigger factors.”

Palm Beach County, which is home to former President Donald Trump, illustrates the problems with Florida’s vaccine rollout. The county, which sits about an hour’s drive north of Miami, stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Okeechobee in the middle of the state. Florida struck a deal with Publix in January to be the sole pharmacy provider of vaccines in the county a fruitful arrangement for the wealthy communities on the county’s eastern edge with many Publix locations.

A Publix spokesperson said the governor’s office was responsible for selecting where the vaccine would be distributed.

    Mobile Vaccination Unit Offers Covid

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. New Palm Beach County data shows just over 50% of 12-to-19-year-olds have one or two COVID-19 vaccines.

There is a new push this month to get mobile vaccine units out to schools to increase vaccinations among high schoolers.

Theres no doubt there is still vaccine hesitancy among parents of children 12 to 17 years old.

“Honestly, I dont think they need the vaccine,” said Gisele Lemus.

“We just worry about the side effects with the kids,” said Joseba Padin.

In the pick-up line at Seminole Ridge Community High Achool in the Acreage the school with currently the most student COVID-19 cases at 135 — most parents WPTV spoke to do not plan to get their students vaccinated.

“If they can show the vaccination works, then we will be more open to it. But when people are vaccinated and are still getting COVID and getting sick then it doesnt make it positive to want to get it,” said Jamie Black.

Yet vaccine initiatives in the area show there is growing interest. The Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s mobile vaccination team is visiting two schools every day to offer vaccines to students or their parents or family members who are eligible.

Since the initiative started on Sept. 8, vaccine administration has increased daily from 12 shots combined at Jupiter Community High School and William T. Dwyer High School on the first day to 64 shots given Tuesday between Wellington Community High School and Palm Beach Lakes Community High School.

    • If you cannot contact your vaccination provider site directly, contact your state health departments immunization information system . Vaccination providers are required to report COVID-19 vaccinations to their IIS and related systems.

Hell Yeah Im Going: Palm Beach Seniors Get Covid

DELRAY BEACH One by one, seniors donning masks and clutching release forms walked up to a plastic table at the entrance of a conference room at the Kings Point retirement community in Delray Beach and picked up a fact sheet about Moderna vaccine, the newest coronavirus vaccine to come online in Florida. Then, they made their way to one of the dozen nurses dotting the room and rolled up their sleeves.

Im nervous about any side effects, said longtime resident Bryna Stein, 65, who moved to Kings point in 1988 to care for her mother. But we are a little city of our own here, and I know it can spread fast.

So far, clinical trials have shown the vaccines are safe and cause only mild side effects similar to the flu shot in most recipients, though those with a history of anaphylaxis have been cautioned to consult a doctor by federal health officials.

While most of those already vaccinated are residents of long-term care facilities or healthcare workers, Gov. Ron DeSantis last Wednesday issued an executive order directing all vaccination efforts in the next phase to go toward people over age 65 and other patients with severe underlying conditions. South Florida hospitals have been following the directive, with Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach the first to schedule seniors for vaccinations. Jackson Health System, Miami-Dades public hospital, is announcing its plans to vaccinate more than 10,000 senior citizens on Wednesday.

    Is Getting The Covid

The FDA has authorized three COVID-19 vaccines which have been shown to be safe and effective as determined by data from the manufacturers and findings from large clinical trials. This data demonstrates that the known and potential benefits of this vaccine outweigh the known and potential harms of becoming infected with COVID 19. CVS Health is only administering vaccines that have been authorized for use by the FDA and our COVID-19 vaccination services are being conducted in compliance with CDC guidance for safe delivery of vaccines.

Which Vaccines Have Been Fda Approved For Covid

    COVID

The FDA has rigorous scientific and regulatory processes in place to facilitate development and ensure the safety, effectiveness and quality of COVID-19 vaccines. As of August 23, 2021, the FDA has issued full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for ages 16+.

The previously issued Emergency Use Authorizations for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for those ages 12 to 15 and third doses for the immunocompromised, as well as EUAs for COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by Moderna and Johnson & Johnsons Janssen, remain in effect. An EUA gives the FDA authority to allow unapproved medical products to be used in emergencies when no approved alternatives are available. Other COVID-19 vaccines are in development and will be reviewed by the FDA under EUA. Find the current status of the vaccine approvals and EUAs.
