After your test you must return home immediately and stay at home until you receive your test result. This is referred to as self-isolating. You must do this because there is a risk that you could have COVID-19 and infect other people. Do not go to work or to the shops.

“If a person is fully vaccinated and has symptoms, that needs to be tested and evaluated for COVID for other causes of their symptoms, and they should stay away from people, not just because they might have COVID but because they might be contagious with some other virus,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and an infectious disease physician.
Adalja noted that for the vast majority of cases, a breakthrough infection in a fully vaccinated person is “not clinically significant.” However, Dr. Howard Forman, a professor in Yale’s School of Public Health, said that testing can help find cases before they spread to others.
“Testing is still an effective means to reduce spread,” said Forman, who pointed out that routine testing at large companies and at events can help catch cases that may not be symptomatic yet.

You should continue to self-isolate while you are waiting for your results.If you were tested because you are a close contact and do not have symptoms,you should continue to restrict your movements.

If you are offered regular testing because you work or live in a place whereinfection is more likely, this is called serial testing. If you are gettingtested in this way, you can go to work or school as normal unless you get apositive result or develop symptoms.

Gp Referrals To Testing Clinics
Due to increased demand, private testing clinics / drive throughs in the Moreton Bay, Brisbane City, Redland City, Ipswich and Logan City local government areas will not require a GP referral until midnight Friday 1 October 2021.
Community members presenting for testing outside of these geographic areas will, as normal, require a GP referral at private clinics.
Participating providers include Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology , Queensland Medical Laboratories , 4Cyte Pathology, Medlab Pathology, Mater Pathology and Genomics for Life.
To support Queenslands response to COVID-19, people who do not have adequate insurance coverage and are not eligible for Medicare will not be charged out of pocket expenses if they present to any Queensland Health facility for assessment in relation to COVID-19 infection.
When You Are Fully Vaccinated And Traveling Internationally
International travelers need to pay close attention to the situation at their international destinations before traveling due to the spread of new variants and because the burden of COVID-19 varies globally.
- Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to get tested before leaving the United States unless required by their destination.
- Fully vaccinated air travelers coming to the United States from abroad, including U.S. citizens, are still required to have a negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board a flight to the United States.
- International travelers arriving in the United States are still recommended to get a SARS-CoV-2 viral test 3-5 days after travel regardless of vaccination status.

Screening With Public Health
If you choose to call the Public Health Info-Line, callers will be assessed by a public health professional for your risk of having COVID-19. Based on the initial assessment, the professional may:
- Provide reassurance that you don’t have COVID-19 and advise on protecting your health
- Advise to self-monitor
- Direct to self-isolate at home
- Refer to a COVID-19 testing location, Niagara Health COVID-19 assessment centres, or direct you to contact your health care provider

What Will Happen When I Get My Standard Covid
Arrival
- If you have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19, you can walk, drive, cycle or take a taxi to your testing appointment. Do not take the bus or ferry. If you are booked for an asymptomatic test, you are welcome to take public transit if you wish.
- It is recommended that only the person receiving the COVID-19 test should be in the testing site.
- Children and youth who are being tested may have one support person.
- Pets are not allowed in in any testing site . Service dogs are permitted.
- Arrive for your booked appointment no more than five minutes early.
- If you have a provincial health card, student ID or military ID, have it ready.
- At all locations youll be asked to sanitize your hands when you enter. Youll also be given a medical mask to wear in place of your non-medical mask.

- The team member at registration will ask you to confirm your full name, birth date, health card or other ID number, email and phone number. It is important your phone number and email are correct as this will be how you will be reached for your results. Currently, results are only available by email for those with a valid Nova Scotia health card.
- They will then provide directions about what happens next.

Providing Proof Of Your Result
When you arrive at the border, you must present an accepted test result which must include:
- Traveller name and date of birth
- Name and civic address of the laboratory/clinic/facility that administered the test
- The date on which the test was conducted
- The type of test conducted
- The test result
You must show proof of your test results even if you:
- have tested negative for COVID-19 previous to the 72 hour period
- have been vaccinated for COVID-19
Keep proof of your test results with you for the 14-day period that begins on the day you enter Canada.
At this time, travellers should have their test performed at a reputable laboratory or testing facility .
All travellers must:
- provide one of the accepted types of tests, not an antigen test

, in addition to a fine of $5000 under the Quarantine Act, if the same false document is also presented upon entry into Canada.
Violating any instructions provided when you enter Canada or putting others at risk of a serious communicable disease are offences under the Quarantine Act and could lead to up to three years in prison and/or up to $1 million in fines.
How Long Does It Take To Get Covid
Again, it depends. According to Dr. Rubin, many patients may be able to get test results within 24 hours. But, depending on where the test is sent, it could take up to two weeks in some cases. Its one more of those frustrating variables of COVID-19.
You could get a result within minutes with some tests, Dr. Rubin says. But if it has to be sent to an outside laboratory and that lab is backed up, it could take a few weeks.
That wait could also increase as cases continue to skyrocket and so, too, do tests. More volume means more of a wait.
