Completing Your Arrival Test

Follow the directions you receive on arrival to complete your test:

  • if you were directed to a testing service at the airport, you are required to register with the testing service provider, and the provider will collect your sample they will notify you of your test result within 72 hours
  • if you are provided with a self-swab kit, use the instructions in the kit to complete it within 24 hours of entering Canada, and arrange for it to be picked up as directed in the kit

You are under a legal obligation to take the arrival test within the required timeframe. If you don’t comply, you may not be exempted from quarantine. You may also be required to go to a quarantine facility, face fines, or other enforcement measures.

Air Travellers: Register In Advance For Arrival Testing

You may be required to get tested before exiting the airport. To speed you through the process, register in advance with the testing provider for the airport you will arrive at.

When you register, use the same email address you used for your ArriveCAN account.

Fully vaccinated travellers are not exempt from mandatory randomized arrival testing.

And Once You Arrive There Are More Rules To Follow

The new Biden administration rules also address protocols after arrival in the U.S., including more testing, isolating if you do contract COVID-19 and a strong nudge to get the vaccination for people who will be in the country 60 days or longer. Here’s a link to everything U.S. citizens and foreigners need to know about what’s expected of them in the days after travel to the U.S. from another country.

The CDC does not say how it will enforce these post-arrival rules although the Departments of Transportation and Homeland Security can deny airplane boarding to anyone not in compliance.

As the countdown to the November 8 start date begins, some medical authorities are concerned that the swift timing will add to the confusion felt by potential visitors from overseas.

But at least one public health specialist thinks the new rules could bring a quick public health benefit. Dr. Ifeanyi Nsofor, director of Policy and Advocacy at Nigeria Health Watch says “there are vaccination sites in every state in Nigeria, including rural primary health centers. Anyone who wants to get vaccinated now can walk in. because of vaccine hesitancy few people are.”

Many people in Nigeria have family in the U.S. and hope to travel there for holidays, Nsofor says, so he hopes that the new rules could encourage them to overcome any hesitancy or procrastination: “If you want to go, get vaccinated.”

Are Vaccine Mandates Legal

COVID vaccines arrive, immunization to start Thursday Dr ...

Yes, said Lawrence O. Gostin, professor at Georgetown Law and the faculty director of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.

“Businesses have full power to require reasonable safety standards for customers,” he told CNBC. “Just as many businesses have required masking, they could also ask for proof of vaccination.”

That’s true whether mandates come from private businesses or government-owned attractions, such as the Grand Canyon or tours at the White House, he said.

We felt strongly that it was the right thing to do, and sometimes doing the right thing is hard.Kelly Sanderssenior vice president of operations, Highgate Hawaii

“For some high-risk businesses, such as cruise lines and hotels, it is very much in their economic interests to make their customers feel safe and secure they have every right to do so,” said Gostin. “Similarly, President Biden, who oversees federal properties, could require proof of vaccination for entry to national parks and federal buildings.”

Nelson agrees, adding that there is a long history of courts upholding vaccine mandates, though those have mostly been in the context of school requirements.

“I expect that, for the most part, the vaccine mandates will stand up,” he said.

Covid: Vaccination Will Be Required To Fly Says Qantas Chief

International air travellers will in future need to prove they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to board Qantas flights, the airline says.

The Australian flag carrier’s boss, Alan Joyce, said the move would be “a necessity” when vaccines are available.

“I think that’s going to be a common thing talking to my colleagues in other airlines around the globe,” he said.

Australia shut down its international borders early in the pandemic and required those returning to quarantine.

The country has more recently relied on lockdowns, widespread testing and aggressive contact tracing to push daily infections nationwide close to zero.

In an interview with Australia’s Nine Network on Monday, Mr Joyce said Qantas was looking at ways of changing its terms and conditions for international travellers as the industry, which has been hit hard by travel restrictions, looks at ways of moving forward.

“We will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft… for international visitors coming out and people leaving the country we think that’s a necessity,” he told the broadcaster.

In August, Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison said it was likely that any successful vaccine would become “as mandatory as you could possibly make it”.

“There are always exemptions for any vaccine on medical grounds, but that should be the only basis,” he told radio station 3AW.

More than 20 additional flights were scheduled between the two states on Monday.

If You Are Not Fully Vaccinated

The Government of Canada is engaging with Indigenous peoples, provinces and territories to ensure that travellers from remote communities who are not fully vaccinated are still able to travel for any reason including:

  • medical treatment
  • essential supplies including food
  • treaty negotiations

As of October 30, 2021, and updated to reflect minor changes on November 30, there are some temporary accommodations for remote communities if you are travelling:

When Will The Vaccine Mandate End

Not for a while.

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the state government does not plan to end vaccination mandates once Queensland hits the 90 per cent double-dose vaccination target.

“People should expect that the mandatory vaccination will go on for some time,” Ms D’Ath said.

“We said we’d review it but I’ve heard rumours people are waiting for it to be lifted at 90 per cent, they shouldn’t wait. Get vaccinated.”

USA Today:New COVID Mandate: Require Air Passengers To Show Proof Of VaccinationThe nation remains locked in a life or death debate with 66 million Americans over the rightness of being vaccinated against COVID-19. About half of the unvaccinated an estimated 12% to 18% of eligible Americans stubbornly refuse the shot for reasons ranging from distrust of government or health institutions, to an embrace of conspiracies, to a fear of needles. The rest of the holdouts are those who simply haven’t gotten around to it , are in still a wait-and-see frame of mind or will be vaccinated only if required to do so.

Bloomberg:By Allowing Vaccine Mixing, The FDA Simplifies The Booster Rollout The U.S. rollout of Covid-19 booster shots has been defined, unfortunately, by confusion. Last month, the Food and Drug Administration approved additional shots for many people who had received the Pfizer vaccine, but not for anyone whod gotten Moderna or Johnson & Johnson. And in contrast to health authorities in several other countries, the FDA did not sanction allowing people to get booster shots that didnt match their original vaccinations.

Will The Eu Accept My Indian

Its been suggested that up to five million UK citizens could be refused entry to some EU countries or required to take additional tests because they have had a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India.

These vaccines, which the EU refers to as Covishield, have not been approved by the European Medicines Agency . All other AstraZeneca vaccines administered in the UK, known in the EU, as Vaxzevria have been approved.

However, the EMA only advises countries on which vaccines to accept. Several countries, such as Spain, accept all WHO approved vaccines, which includes Covishield.

Given Covidshield and Vaxzevira are the same vaccine, it is also likely the EMA will approve its use across the EU at some point in the future.

It is possible to identify whether you have had the Indian produced AstraZeneca vaccine by the batch number. These are said to be batch numbers 4120Z001, 4120Z002, and 4120Z003. However, so far, no UK resident has been prevented from entering a country because of where their AstraZeneca vaccine was manufactured.

The department for Health and Social Care said: All AstraZeneca vaccines given in the UK are the same product and appear on the NHS Covid Pass as Vaxzevria. The European Medicines Agency has authorised this vaccine and were confident travel will not be affected.
